  • I bought the majic plus 2 months ago and haven't had a problem...very clear.

  • wow !!!!all this to make a call? how stupid

  • ha, misleading comment.... solution, buy another computer :) It would be interesting to use a Pogo Plug as the computer. Yes I know there is a majic Jack Plus... NOW

  • Good info, but terrible shaky video that needs editing badly. You should've cut this video down to 4 minutes, not 13! Next time, do some prep work, like plugging unit in ahead of time to reduce redundancy or turning lights on in dark video zones.

  • Sooo... why didn't you just get a Magic Jack Plus?... cheaper than a thin client and much easier to set up and use!

  • i saw a screen spot and a place to plug in mic speakers mouse keyboard and even a printer port. if u put a screen in what is the os?

  • @eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee234 Different ones will come with different OSs. Mine has Windows XP.

  • @TheDanielScheer is it like a regular os like with ms paint and a web browser ect. or is it like a server with nothing on it

  • @eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee234 It's the regular OS. But keep in mind that the this client computer is older and not as powerful. It might work for light web browsing and playing music, but probably not perform well for streaming video or other intense apps.

  • @TheDanielScheer ok thanks for replying so fast

  • What I don't get is totally using this without a computer (or a thin client). If you plug your "phone line" into it (I assume from the phone company) how is that saving you anything?

  • @jackiejunque The MJ routes the calls over the internet, so the phone company is no longer needed. MagicJack Plus connects to your router or modem with a cat5 network cable. The phone jack connects to your telephone handset. After the initial setup MJP does not need a computer. If you look at the comments area of this video, you will see my other video which shows how to setup MJP.

  • Download the magic jack app and receive all you house phone calls on your cell phone threw your data plan it's like havering two lines on your cell phone

  • my magic jack ccost 19 a yr u fuck'n idot.

  • everyone talking about magic jack plus, look at the date of the video. It wasn't available when this guy made this video.

  • hey have u heard about majic jack plus .......lol !!! big fail !!!

  • @lamouche123 not a fail at all. He made this before magicjack plus was available. just sayin'

  • @BenboBevins LOL... thanks for the comment.

  • since the new majicjack has a internet cable just need to have a cable end on it

and hook up the majicjack to enternet then get free internet to

no more cable boxs modem need

something like that too would be cool

    any ider of this tip

or what i am trying to say hear too

    thanks

  • now take it a step more

use it as a cell phone

the usb part is for updates and the softwhere

once you have all the info on the majaic jack

get a 9volt battare and a cord phone

now you can plug the cord phone in and a 9 volt battra

use magicjack as a cell phone walk to the store or what ever

    that would be cool

any ider on what i am trying to say hear thanks

  • You probably do not have to hook up the monitor and keyboard, you can probably go through the network and log into the Thin Client. I use WinISP You can also use you current keyboard and mouse to move around in the Thin Client. I want to say something to people who say its cheaper buying a MJ-Plus, well, I have had my MJ for 4 years now, I saw this video, headed to Ebay and just won a used Thin Client CLI ET1500 which was 50 bucks in the buy it now, I won the auction and paid $11.25 icluds ship

  • Ehem can somebody say " MajicJack + "

  • Magic Jack works instant with regular wifi access point with USB port...

  • ohh... and Allison Scheer is ugly...

  • the title defeats the purpose. only thing you're reducing is power consumption.

  • Magic jack plus would have done this for you!

  • they have the magic jack plus now so its now cheaper to buy a new device from magic jack.

  • What is the TELEPHONE plugged into?!!

  • @mphello It's plugged into the MagicJack next to the network cable that goes to your broadband modem. Although the plugs look similar, the network cable plug is slightly larger.

  • can u install programs like a regular computer mainly for itunes

  • @npb707 Yes, you can; but you have to make sure you have enough room on the memory drive. There is usually no hard drive as in a standard computer. These use flash drives. The slower models will have trouble with video, but most models should handle playing and downloading music. Again... storage space is going to be the issue.

  • @TheDanielScheer Thank u its just that i wanted a cheep computer to install in my truck

  • NetTalk

  • @psychodad1961 yes nettalk has better quality i had magic jack they lied and said they would support linux so lift never to be a mj customer again. long live nettalk worth the extra ten bucks a year

  • if you want to switch to VoIP get the netTALK DUO

the best VoIP, been using it for 5 months, NO PROBLEMS, no difference in call quality,

  • Its a lot cheaper to buy Majic Jack Plus.

  • @kindprince You're right... and it looks easier to setup too!

  • @kindprince this video was made before magicjack plus existed.

  • actually, this is cheaper than magic jack plus. $69.95 a year for magic jack plus and if you use old style magic jack only $19.95 a year. saving money after 2nd year.

  • @kindprince with this and magic jack. just a one time payment of 99$ and 16$ a year. with magic jack plus you pay 60$ a year (in 3 years thats 147$ all together).think about it. and in magic jack plus within 3 years you spend 180$

  • freckled hands

  • TIP: Blur out your address. You have kids and family ;)

  • You need to remove the part of the invoice on your video, because it has your address on it. You have young kids and a wife to protect.... and you have your address showing... REMOVE IT!

  • I used my MJ this way for about a year - worked pretty well except for when MJ did auto updates - then it would require some intervention on my part. Once everything was running ok, it required a reboot every couple of weeks or else I'd have problems. I just made a scheduled task to reboot every night after midnight and it resolved all of my issues. Using magicjack plus now - much easier and plus I have a thin client to play with.

  • @mjovanovic I'm thinking about upgrading to MJP too. I was wondering you can access the voicemail from your regular computer without the MJP being plugged into it? Or do you have to transfer the MJP from the wall to the computer to access the voicemail/config program???

  • @TheDanielScheer Nope - you need to plug it into your computer when you first buy it so that it can register the magic jack - once that is done (5 mins), everything else is over the internet. You get an email with your voicemail attached. Works really well. There might be other ways to hear your voice mail, but this way worked fine for me so I never checked.

  • Get a powerline adapter for 10 to 20 dollars, just plug into wall.

  • What happened to "Without a computer"? That's just a mini computer !!!!

  • @Ron0968 You have a point... guess I was too focused on getting the MJ off of my regular machine! LOL The setup is still working great! But I think since Magicjack Plus is finally out... I would just buy one of those.

  • lmao majic jack plus owns this

  • magicjack plus... $79.99

  • @alex83h Wow, that's a little more expensive than I would have thought. Wondering how many years of service is included with that?

  • @TheDanielScheer

    1 year

  • What a hassle! Just get a xblue phone with Skype. Cheap, don't need PC, get own number, etc.

  • @andreestes99 Sounds interesting, but after Googling xblue I didn't really get a clear idea as to how it all fits together. I like that I can use my existing phone hardware with MagicJack or NetTalk.

  • *cough*magicjackplus*cough*

  • @MegaDeathwarrant Looks like they finally rolled out MajicJack Plus. Wondering how well it works and if the voicemail is accessible from your computer while the MJP is plugged in the wall outlet?

  • @MegaDeathwarrant yo thats funny

  • @MegaDeathwarrant when he did the video that didn't exist.

  • there is a even better smaller computer check out the

    "CompuLab fit-PC " on youtube

    your welcome ;)

  • @carlitosh101 They look cool and are much more powerful... but at $500 US, it seems a little expensive for setting up MJ alone.

  • @TheDanielScheer you can get thin clients for around $100.

  • You have to be a COW, to not understand that a thin client IS A COMPUTER., besides, you omit all the time that ONE HAVE TO HAVE AN INTERNET CONNECTION IN ORDER TO USE MAGIC JACK. Just a telephone line is not enough to make it work.

  • @paunocudatuamae I think the average MJ user has never heard of a thin client. I know I hadn't heard of it until I began searching for a way to use magic jack without a computer. You are correct that a MJ needs an internet connection, I just assumed that if you bought one you would already know that. Thanks for the comment.

  • you can spend less than that just get the new "magic jack plus", and done deal

  • you can spend less than that just get the new "magic jack plus", and done deal

  • @jeipy3

you can get NETTALK for 63.00 and just plug into the network

  • @buercky Nettalk seems like a great product and I actually bought the MJ before I became aware of it. I think there are many more MJ users than NTalk users, so the thin client solution is still valid.

  • Can you stick a webcam in there to make a WIFI webcam ?

  • @AbuBishir I am assuming you are referring to the "thin client." It's a mini computer with a low power processor. I won't think it could handle a VGA camera... but I would hestitate to think it can handle the streaming of HD video But there are more powerful thin clients out there. BTW... the magicjack is still working flawlessly!!!

  • I have looked at that one as well. If you get one make a vid and let us know what u think.

  • in 2 weeks MagicJack will have the MagicJack Pluss ready for order. Just plug it into the router. lol. Send that back and get your money back.

  • @kg4bga I think that Nettalk's Duo is even better. I'm gonna continue with MJ this year and then make a decision at that point.

  • awesome, thanks for the video, I need to do this

  • @sjholdenii The wife insists on have a home phone, but with two cell phones; I don't see the point in spendiing the extra $400 a year on the house phone. With magicjack, I won't even notice the $19.95 a year. (Granted... the intial $39 MJ fee and $90 for the HP Thin Client cut the savings the first year to around $300.)
