  • True.

  • the most gleaming evidence of whats happening to the internet is if anyone is old enough to remember, the exact same thing happened to MTV. MTV used to be an open source to music of all genres, then slowly it turned into hair bands then alternative and now nothing but pop. all day and now they dont even play any videos at all. you have to PAY time warner extra for M2 and even they dont play videos hardly anymore either.

  • How can he not understand without government regulation you get Google. They ran their competition in the ground by giving away their product for three years, then anyone that comes along with a better idea just gets bought up by them. The same way big oil buys up anything that would compete with them.

  • If anything we need more regulation on business's not less, people his age never lived through the Ronald Reagan years when he deregulated business and we got all those corporate takeovers and SNL failures.

  • Excellent points. It always seems that as soon as something becomes popular or useful, it becomes exploited and restrictions begin to emerge. If you follow RonPaulIsSmart's logic, we should all be limited to using premature crap that nobody knows about which would be pointless.

  • It's funny that this comes out on the day that our goverment here in Oz decided to filter and block websites.

  • not sure government would do any better if they were running a search engine. Evidence the justice system.

  • Ya Stupeid fuck! lol XD

  • word.

  • amazing analysis

  • Spot on!

  • do no evil... gobble, gobble, gobble. what if evil does you, tho? that's why true anarchist can not stand in political elections as they are now (also mainly marketing games), because eventually the position in the system corrupts one.

  • You are 100% right on this issue. When a company has grown to the size that they are controlling the marketplace of ideas, the need to be forced to adhere to the Constitutional right of free speech and standards should be applied consistently.

  • Google trading ar 752.53 dollars per share

  • fucking brilliant as usual.

a free reign internet, would be a pile of books also though. you can't logically index websites like dewey decimal. it wouldn't really work.

i think we need to find a way for people to register their presence online, then have people create the page ranking for the index using ranking/voting. that way content can't be manipulated on the index by corporate sheistering

  • if something is bullshit, it will be downvoted into obscurity. if something is good, it will be upvoted to popularity.

there would have to be a way to cull legacy rankings though. otherwise new content would never stand a chance to get viewed.

kinks we can work out if we ever get around to really designing this system
