the most gleaming evidence of whats happening to the internet is if anyone is old enough to remember, the exact same thing happened to MTV. MTV used to be an open source to music of all genres, then slowly it turned into hair bands then alternative and now nothing but pop. all day and now they dont even play any videos at all. you have to PAY time warner extra for M2 and even they dont play videos hardly anymore either.

How can he not understand without government regulation you get Google. They ran their competition in the ground by giving away their product for three years, then anyone that comes along with a better idea just gets bought up by them. The same way big oil buys up anything that would compete with them.

a free reign internet, would be a pile of books also though. you can't logically index websites like dewey decimal. it wouldn't really work.

i think we need to find a way for people to register their presence online, then have people create the page ranking for the index using ranking/voting. that way content can't be manipulated on the index by corporate sheistering

if something is bullshit, it will be downvoted into obscurity. if something is good, it will be upvoted to popularity.

there would have to be a way to cull legacy rankings though. otherwise new content would never stand a chance to get viewed.
