I'm 29 and cook that way when I don't feel like cooking something more elaborate. And hey, I have just the 10% of my sight, but I can cook a hell of a good steak, shrimp alfredo and some of those complicated stuff... Frankly, I'm severely culinarily challenged.

But somehow, I become quite the gourmet chef when I'm tipsy. I'm not sure what happens. Suddenly I become aware of flavors & spices and take on a new perspective of what flavors blend better. I even over/under cook food much less often when I'm tipsy.
