Thanx JazzVideoGuy for the lovely history of jazz. Kids of every generation should know about this music. If it weren't for jazz we would not have everything after that. Thanx.
Great post, thanks. I caught both of these two at the Fillmore duing the '60s. I took most of the great music for granted as I was 18 at the time, now I have the most fond memories of being blessed with seeing greatest musicians of our time.
What the video doesn't say is that both Miles and Sonny realized that they were killing themselves, and shortly after, stop using heroin. Sadly, Bird couldn't save himself. Miles and Sonny both went on to long, very productive careers.
Great post, thanks!!

The name of the tune, with " Miles on piano", that Roy and Sonny can't quite recall, at 1:41, is
" I Know ".
Thanks for this, Bret.

This a great and valuable piece which is an aural (also oral) history of how music and people came together to make great things happen. Thanks Bret!
