I can remember my mother playing this album as she cleaned house. My sister and I would always ask mom "Why does that girl have CoolWhip all over her body?" I don't recall mom's answer, but I do miss those days. I miss you mom! Love hearing this music again!!!
There are various musicians, Herb being one of them, whose music always stirs up certain feelings. For this song I always end up thinking about memories. They are not always the same one but they are always very important and dear memories.
I guess that is the proof of Mr. Alpert's musical brilliance and it is absolutely timeless,
The model on the cover was the biggest delight of all! I think my family went through three vinyl albums before I bought the CD. This song always reminded me of a walk in the park.
Everything about this album is clever; the music and the highly artistic cover design. The album is about 40 years old and there are still people who don;'t realise that the lady is bedecked not in fabric but cream. FIVE STARS!
I still love my classic rock, hard rock and heavy metal bands but it is nice to be able to kick back and listen to some smooth sounds every now and then as well. I'm glad I found Herb Alpert on here. Thanks for posting.
Of all the great songs on WC&OD this is the most romantic and sentimental. Like so many of us that grew up in the long ago 1960's, the Tijuana Brass seems like a kinder, more laid back soundtrack than the more raucous sounds of the so-called counter culture.
For me, this song and the many other classics covered by the Tijuana Brass represent audio pleasure, pure, full of melody and uncomplicated.
My question is: Was this tune ever recorded with lyrics?
This reminds me of my father. he loved Herb and also played trumpet. I remember when we to a walk around the block and he found an old trumpet in a yard sale. He was so thrilled. He has been gone 25 years now. I miss you dad!
This has to be the best tune by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass. I LOVE this song so much and always will because it is sooooooooo BEAUTIFUL! This is a tune that can be played during a slow romantic dance, or a nice soothing massage. Thank you very much for posting this. It brings pleasant memories to mind.
Freaking awesome. I miss these days.
