I live in baltimore city and regaurdless of what the police think you are guilty of human beings have rights!, and in the begining of this video when the officer states that a fellow officer would handle the community complaints is exaclty how they do things. Your rights are being spit on even if your are'nt involved in anything illegal.

I was born in raised in Baltimore, worked on the block and had several customer's/acquaintances who were less than savory. Bottom line. Legalize, don't criminalize the drugs. Even larger problem is Doctors handing out pills in lieu of giving people what they need. A reality check. The govt is corrupt, you live in a de facto corporate fascist state. I agree that those drugs are dangerous and can cause violent behaviour in people. However the War on Drugs not only causes death and violence on a global scale, but also has contributed to the ghettofication of major cities. The amount being spent on the War on Drugs detracts from other issues such as housing and education a point which The Wire makes over and over again.

uh I got news for you, I ve been through west B-more when i was younger growing up and seen the cops bring the paddy-wagons on the block. This isnt that far from the truth. Every kid age 10 or 11 and up gets cuffed and thrown in the back, searched/stripped, all their money taken etc. Doesnt matter what they were doin or what they may say either. Ive seen it. But it doesnt make any difference as soon as the wagons leave the block fills up w/ dealers and clients until the next shakedown.

They could, but they're not allowed to. Manpower is one thing. Cops can only drive through or try to catch them in the act. If they pull up, hit the siren and don't leave, they hault business. Who wants to buy drugs with cops sitting there? That would mess with their money. Can't do that. Too many calls, too few officers. Also, we all know that the minute officers start really trying, someone is going to yell profiling or harassment. NAACP would complain about cops wanting to lock blacks up.
