Undoubtedly the Rio de Janeiro is the best city to host the Olympic Games. Rio de Janeiro is much prettier than Chicago, that Madrid, which Tokyo, any city that competition. I am Brazilian and I speak with great pride: Goooooooooo Rioooo 2016;)

I think many people who never seen chicago think its ike the 1920 full of smoke stacks and rail roads.... but it has Lush Park lands, and a lake that can be mistaken for a ocean, stunning architecture, civic art, museums all along the lake, historic sports teams, amazing resturant scene, music, and pride.

More on Rio. Copacabanna, Ipanema and Sugar Loaf are great tourist areas. (still dangerous). Great culture, people and food as well. To host the Olympics, Rio needs to mask its ugly interior, favelas and most importantly crime. Chicago is a much better place to have the games - compared to Atlanta.

I have visited many cities all over the world. I tell people that RIO is the most dangerous place I have ever been. There is an industry that preys on tourists. Three times in four days, I had issues. I couldn't wait to get out. I toured the Favelas -and these are somewhat lawless areas. Beautiful city but dangerous. The lakefront of Chicago is truly beautiful. Chicago has its tough spots as well, but not as much muggings of tourists. Buenos Aires is a safer choice for south america.

I have had the privilege of visit many places and beliveme: there is NOTHING like getting up there with that statue and looking down at that MAGNIFICENT city of Rio!

you obviously never seen chicago.. we have 28 miles of lakefront and green parklands and beaches... Lagoons, Praries, outdoor gardens, urban parks such as millenium park. a beautiful river that cuts through the urban center of the loop. Chicago has very warm summers. Museums and architecture are in the same area.

I live in California but have travelled across the country many times-------once on route 66 when there was riots going on-----we were lucky, many of the cars passing through were stoned, we got through OK, but didn't dare get out of the car.!!!!!!! Even more importantly-------the olympics is about THE WORLD !!!-----and it is ABOUT TIME!! that South America was the host, and what more beautiful place than Rio !!!!!
