It's not nearly the kind of reform I hoped for, but I am so glad it passed. The low-dog Republicans tried every trick, lie and disgusting tactic possible to stop Obama.

Obama persevered and used the means necessary to bring reform to the people.

This is a victory for Obama and the American people and a loss for the greedy, self-serving big business devils.

Yay for the landmark health insurance reform package.... I wish we had reformed healthcare instead. I couldn't give two shits about insurance. I just want to be able to see a doctor.

The fact is that this isn't going to cost the federal gov anymore money than it does now and it will reduce, over time, the amount of money the gov puts out on Medicare and Medicaid. By dictating what is in an Advantage coverage plan, the need to carry such a plan will be less and less. A new plan by the insurance co will make more sence than the present coverage by Medicare and Medicaid, thus turning these programs over to the private sector, over time. Mark my words.

Not gonna cost the fed anymore money? The CBO said this plan would save 130 billion over 10 years. To get those savings, Medicare will be cut 500 billion dollars. Do you REALLY think congress will cut Medicare spending half a trillion dollars? No way in hell. This plan may cost 3 trillion dollars every 10 years.

Didn't I just explain how they are going to cut Medicare and transfer the cost to the public, via higher cost insurance? Medicare Advantage is a private insurance, subsidized by the Gov. The newly formed Commission will decide what things will be paid for by the gov under this plan, not everything will be as it is now. That's the savings in Medicare...get it?

@lenny380 Why would the insurance co want to close their doors? They just got closer to the best thing that has ever happened to this sector. Millions of new customers and no limits on what they can charge them for a mandated policy.  Not only that, they can continue with their monopolies, and in the next 10 or 15 years, they get Medicare and Medicaid. It's boon time for insurance cos, party time!!

Wrong -it will be socialized and run by the Government. How ever you slice it - it will not reduce anything - the Government is setting limits of care and cost. The people won't get free stuff, no free healthcare , drugs , MRIs or disability checks. Nothing people really wanted from it.

Again Lenny380, there is a provision put in the bill by Sanders that gives 12 billion to community health centers...free care. So there will be, at least for the first 10 years, some free health care available to the very poor and homeless. Everyone else will be making the insurance companies rich, rich, rich!!

But it appears Washington is and we elected them, so it must be the American people are happy to fill the pockets of the insurance industry and at the same time turn over century old safety nets to the private sector. Oh and by the way Medicaid isn't free, it too is private insurance co who are subsidized by the State and Fed gov.

They just passed a law that said everyone had to by insurance, and for ten years the government would foot the bill for those who couldn't afford it.

If they passed a law that said everyone had to buy a cheeseburger and if they couldn't afford it the government would by them a cheeseburger would you close your mcdonalds?

Oh, i so wish like litterly that i was standing side by side with Obama, and talking about these kind's of things, i believe for a brighter future, but how are we even supposed to be able to have that future, if we may not then by any chance can work together against "Climate change" i mean, this aint a little thing.
