I absolutely adore this scene and the way Little Edie sits back and indulges her mother in this reverie. It's the most touching moment in the whole film. It is perfection. I'll never understand what they were thinking when they attempted to turn this into a musical or a movie. I refuse to see either.
@nauort23 As brilliant as the documentary is, you HAVE to see the movie if you're a fan. It was created as a tribute to the Beales, to fill in the blanks for fans, and to inform those of this wonderful story that have never heard of it before - they weren't attempting to make a BETTER version of 'Grey Gardens', which would have been impoossible. There is no real Grey Gardens without the real Edies, but the film is touching and beautiful, and enjoyable from even a non-fan's perspective.
when she does that real high part at the end,i thought she was having a stroke or something...it really freaks me out... la la LAH LAH LAH....jesus, thats scary...
Does anyone know what recording of 'Tea of Two' this is Ms. Beale is singing to? I'm so in love with these women, movie, and scene in particular. I would love to find the record.
@MondoManiacs I believe this version of "Tea for Two" is by Andre Kostelanetz. I'm unsure, as I've had extreme difficulties finding this particular recording, but that's where I'd start looking.
you are so right on. This whole thing is just incredible. "We won't let them know we don't have a telephone... no no no" LOVE IT!!! I make everyone at work watch it Manadatory!
