Good grief... You can use the stems, just trim the ends.
Throw your mushrooms in a colander and rinse with cold water, shaking the 'dirt' loose. Drain well on paper towel. They don't have time to absorb water.

lol white button mushrooms ARE portobella mushrroms (both genus names Agaricus bisporus) and both videos you just washed them and removed the stem
