Well, I own this power supply and purchased it in October of 2009. NOW, if you wish to run Quad-SLI's you REQUIRE a power supply that is a MINIMUM of 1000 watts! Therefore, this one is perfect! It maxes out at 1200 watts on the standard plug in.

A guy on youtube has a 4 way watercooled 5870 setup with gpu core overclocked to 1050 mhz from stock 850 and he said in his video his thermaltake 1500 watt was overheating and he had to change it out for a different 1500 watt. THAT SETUP is what this power supply was made for. His set up has 2133 memory and 975 intel at 4.6 ghz overclock.

This power supply is good if you have three gtx 280's which draw 250 watts each "overclocked models". Three gtx 280's will overload a 70 amp 12v rail on a 1000 watt power supply because they draw 78 amps by themselves not including the 200 watts the cpu in your system is drawing and hard drives. For only 250 bucks on comp usa website it is a good deal. It sucks that it wont support tri sli only quad sli because it only comes with 2 8 pins and 4 six pins pci express connectors.

What??? This PSU won't always use 1600w - if you power a system that needs 100 watts it will draw only slightly more than that (because of energy lost via heat). In fact this PSU would probably use less than a lot of much cheaper PSUs because it is more efficient (wastes less electricity as heat). Also, learn English!

BTW it makes no difference if it's modular - the PC still has the same electrical load so it will still draw the same amount. Modular is to improve airflow/make PC look tidier.

Lol in my Server we got the OCZ 1000w and it takes 17 Hard Drives all SATA this thing takes 10 I dont think its worth it to get this You have to get an electrician install you the wires and the socket to your grid which he has to open the walls maybe and then you pay like alot then what you currently pay for your computer and then all this stuff but the problem is your plugging it Directly which means a Random Blackout = Dead Computer maybe Unless they make an APC that supports that plug.
