Keep it simple. Start with index funds (like SPY) and use Trend Investing to capitalize on the long-term trends in the market. That will help you to decide when to buy and when to sell the funds. Make sure that you avoid the next bear market like the one in 2008 or the one in 2001-2003. Start but be cautious.
