I can't stop playing this song . My. Wife left me . Took my 2 daughters back to Costa Rica . I miss them Soooo much . Been crying playing this song. Listening to pearl jam . Kind of depressing
@DjetGlea I think it has a bit of hidden multiple meanings. One I can come up with is he is a man that feels he has changed since the beginning and has come to realize that he can learn from her to get back to the way he use to be.
This is such a good cover of this song with Eddie Vedder on vocals. Andrew Wood would be honored and proud of their tribute. I still listen to Mother Love Bone quite often especially to Gentle Groove and Man of Golden Words hence my You tube name. Wood's death was such a tragedy leaving so much potential unfulfilled. Wood's you are missed and your music will live on forever in our hearts and lives. Also RIP 2 other Seattle music pioneers Layne and Kurt, who are also missed and cherished.
@Manofgoldenwords they are great songs i never can get enough of mlb and andrew wood. imagine what might have been... would ther have been pearl jam if andrew didin't pass? they wouldn't have had jeff ament and stone gossard... thie is my fav song mlb sing and my secongd would be man of golden words
Mother should i trust the Government? A chilling line, may the gift of Floyd live on in their music, and let it shine on through the terrible "music" of today, and hopefully knock on the gates of dawn again in the future.
no offense to PJ or Eddie,i love em till the end......But for me this is Andy and MLB's song.forever and no one can touch the way they did it.Still love PJ!
Pearl Jam may have copied this. But with good right.
Eddie, Andrew, Chriss Cornell was friends and new aechother back then.
Temple of the dog (Chris Cornell) made a song in honer of Andrew Wood´s death "Say hello to heaven", Candlebox made a song "Farbehind" and Alice In Chains "Would" due to Andrews death. So i dont think its a copy. More like a tribute to MLB and Andrew Wood. Andrew and Chis where room mates and Eddie was friend of Chris aswell.
@sirsnipity You do realize the Mother Love Bone was formed my members of PJ...right? So MLB IS PLAYING THE SONG. Of course without Wood, but that's the closest you're gonna get.
@SonsCompassMusic yeah i know the history, but in the end you only need the original version, and it is a once in a lifetime song that can not be replicated, have a look at Jack vidgen's song for the grand final of Australia's got talent, and it too is a song that plenty will try to replicate but only one will matter. With songs like this the original is immmortal the copies are forgotton in time.
i remember hearing MLB for the first time in the late 80s and thinking "this is great stuff, but will it ever take off or become anything?"......i guess it did.
saw mlb at the satyracon in portland when i was way too young to be in there... well not way too young but still... i had to sneak in... awesome group... it really hurt when andrew died....
This is such a great song! Although there is some disagreement as to whether or not this is technically a cover, since Stone & Jeff had a part in writing it. The credits in the liner notes of "Mother Love Bone" say "Wood and Mother Love Bone", which of course includes Stone & Jeff.
This version is great though - great audio! Thanks so much for posting. It's always great to listen this this wonderful song and I'm glad PJ is keeping Andy's memory alive thru his music!
Just un real how amazing this song is. Not only the arragement but the history behind it. There are a few people on here that know about it and they have talked about how the song came about. Every time Peal Jam does this song, Eddie will always give credit to AW and MLB. If you start adding up all the talent that is gone now from those days, its very sad.
wow.. happy I made you happy my dear Jeff ;) I really started shivering when this video opened with Chloe... aaaaaaaaaah!!! and btw I saw PJ last Thursday in Rotterdam!!! from like 15 metres I was floating in space staring at Eddie!! I have two amazing videos (Black & Alive) that one of the Dutch fans shot at my channel.. it was funny as I was nearly fainting all throughout the concert (an effect of PJ on me, plus it was hot & kinda jetlaggish stuff..).. you should have joined me ;) see ya, kiss
yes i should have joined you. I've seen them 2 days later in Berlin, no Black no Crazy Mary no Not for you. Been so pissed. I'm sorry to say, but that was the worst PJ concert i've been to. I've seen the setlist for Rotterdam, that must have been great
life's good :) spent a month back home in CZ; stayed in our cottage in the mountains.. eating cherries from our trees (so many of them & so delicious), all kinda berries, mushrooms.. sipping Dad's pear & apple fire (!!) waters & our special Dad's 2007 birthday Abelour sherry based 50GBP single malt that we bought in Scotland 2 years ago.. drinking quality Czech beer & eating local lamb.. now back in A'dam.. busy with my green stuff.. check my featured Burton PJ/ MLB video when you have a sec ;)

@sirsnipity half of mother love bone later became pearl jam and i love the fact that they honor andrew by continuing to play this song!

@sirsnipity I feel you on that. It's probably why PJ doesn't play MLB songs very often.

AIC was my favorite band of the era and Layne was my favorite singer. As much as I liked the Mad Season album, Apple was superior.
