to do it without downloads you will need:some common sense, a brain and the Sims 2, okay before you create a family hold down Ctrl +shift+c then a white box will appear.......... then go to create a family and in the forename box (not the family name) hold shift and n and a notification will appear saying sims 2 CAS is in debug mode then create your family, then move them into the house you want then by a mirror so you can change your appearance, then the custom content sign will be thereclickit

@lalagirl211 there should be a afolder in your documents that says sims 2, extract your files, click documents-EAgame-thesims 2 now create a folder in there that says "Downloads" create a folder with that name on the folder and put all your hairstyles in there; once you do that you have to go into the sims 2, play the game; once you start up the game, go to options menu and enable custom hair or something like that there should be an "options" button somewhere in one of the menus restartwhendone

@thekitkew go to 'computer panel' then click on 'programs' then click 'add or remove' there should be a list of all your things on your computer. then look for the thing you want to remove ,click on it then it should say 'remove'

PLEASE READ. Drag unzipped folders into your sims 2 folder in My Documents. It is IMPORTANT to put them into the MY DOCUMENTS folder, NOT the Program files folder; their are 2 Sims 2 folders on your computer; don't forget this or it won't work. If you don't see a Downloads folder, create one. A lot of custom content requires meshes as well as mods, so make sure you have both (the site should tell if you need a mesh and usually provide it or where. Put the meshes into the downloads folder as well

AND MAKE SURE UR SIMS2

I don't know if somebody can help me with this but it's starting to frustrate me so please somebody let me know, when I download custom hair, it shows up, but it's not the hair I want, it's the long straight hair that was just in the sims 2 and it wont show the others, I don't know why it is doing that. QUESTION???? I have all sims2 expansions except seasons. Anytime I download custom content, my game ends up freezing, and I can never get into a sims house. I have reinstalled the game countless times , and any time custom content gets in my game, it freezes up. is there something I'm doing wrong? I don't have any exclamation point symbols next to my custom content indicating that it would cause unwanted game play, so I have no idea what custom content could be causing this. Please Help:)

@Benatar4ever The cause To this may be that there is a problem with the mesh in the custom content. You may need to downlode other custom contents from a reliable website such as xmsims or sims2reasources. I would suggest deleteing all the content you have allready then downloding other content, and aso make sure you get ones with mesh's.

@sugarstix2 Find a hairstyle you like on Xmsims.com and save the Mesh into My Documents - EA Games - The Sims 2. Save the haircolour into the same place. Make sure you have a folder in The Sims 2 folder called Downloads, Make sure it is called Downloads not anything else otherwise is won't work. Now right click the mesh saved before and click on Extract All, and extract it into the Downloads, then do the same with the Hair colour you saved. This is what I do, and it works.

after downloading the items I wanted the icon is coming out as a white page with some small box's on it and the content is not found. Window's doesnt know how to open the file, needs to know what program created it. The file is a PACKAGE FILE. No blue little icon guy. ANYONE KNOW WHAT THE HELL? Are these files bad? for the last time if you have the original game and it comes with no expansion packs put it in EA Games/sims2/downloads if you have the sims2 double deluxe and it comes wit nightlife and celebration stuff put it in Ea Games/sims2 double deluxe/Downloads I have sims2 double deluxe and it worked!
