Starting mains with flying clamps

That is an old flying clamp from a Tremont Stringer I used when I first started stringing over 30 years ago.

What type of floating clamp are you using?

YULitle's method of starting with flying clamps is just like mine starting at about 2:30 in this video. The starting clamp method is just easier but you don't need to adjust your clamps.

What do you think of YuLitle's method on flying clamps? Seems a little less complex to me.

@1:52 in th video I pull tension on the 1LM, remoe the starting clamp and flying clamp the constant pull tensioner even out the tension then.

I've never seen the last method (w/out starting clamp). That and your cross-weaving technique are two new tricks I'll have to try out!
