the rear tire looses grip and slides. then, all of a sudden it gets grip and flings you up causing a high-side.

@light317. nearly right m8, the tyre spins due to the amount of throttle agaisnt how far the bikes leant over, too much throttle when there isnt enough contact surface between the tyre and the tarmac, this causes it too spin. and its the spinning which when the tyre grips; causes the bike to flip in the opposite direction as it bites into the tarmac again. thats why when they JUST slide (drift), they normally hang on! this is what makes highside, pretty much unsavable once uve commited the power

I've had a fair few off my R1.... its the insitictive reaction of jamming the throttle closed, which causes the tyre to suddenly BITE into the tarmac as your correcting the wheelspin and the slide.

I've been doing a little bit research. I think you got that information from wikipedia, which states:

"leasing a top-level motorcycle for a rider costs about 3 to 3.5 million dollars for a racing season."

That's a whole season for probably two bikes. Those bikes are at least one season old because you can't buy a new factory bike because they are for the factory teams only. An one year old MotoGP bike is a lot cheaper because the R&D costs are far less than a new bike.

Ok for the originals they dont sale them they just rent them and the cost for a rent of one of those motorbikes is 1.000.000 or 1.500.000 euros for one year so the real price must be more than 3 or 4 millions of euros or even more, dont know. But for example the cars of the rally world champ they cost 60 or 70 millions of euros. :) even for rich ppl is too much money you have to be very very rich to get those kind of vehicles.

Well, an F1 car isn't that cheap. What did you think all the fuzz was about when the FIA made a proposition including a 40mln pound budget limit for the teams to reduce costs. Teams like Ferrari, Mclaren and Toyota are spending 200mln + for one F1 season. Therefore a F1 factory car is worth several million. But F1 is a league on its own. Not to compare with MotoGP which spends about 10% of the previous mentioned amount for a season.

If there would of been one more lap, it would of still ended the same with Pedrosa winning. The only reason why Rossi caught up to Pedrosa was that Pedrosa slowed down on the last lap because he had a 1.5 second lead on Rossi....in the interview, when asked about Rossi being right behind him, Pedrosa smiled and said he slowed down too much.

Watching the race here in the states on Fox 40 was fucking stupid. Ya, lets have a shot of the crowd when they come back from commercials, while the race is going on. This race wasn't too exciting. Everyone was spread out. 1-4 places were far from the pack. Pedrosa was in front from beginning to end. I still loved watching it. Rossi made it pretty exciting on the last lap. Only 13 riders finished.
