@HurricaneSondra , thanks for your interest, it is important we all resist this type of technology, or the hobby would be over. Here, our licensing authority has been really reluctant to take on the "big Boys" of manufacture, our radio society asked for subscriptions to a fighting fund, and even then it has taken a question using "the public information act" to get copy of test reports which state this kit does not comply with emc specs. 73s joe

Hello: I live near Seattle, Washington and hear this noise from time to time on the 2 meter band. What is power line signaling? We have power meters that transmit our power usage on our homes. But I don't know if that is it. Thank you for an interesting video.

Power line signalling, simply put are transmitters and receivers which use your house wiring to send high speed data, typically video streamed form the internet to your TV set which is probably in a different room to your internet hub.

These devices use a fair chunk of the H.F. spectrum, and although some of them have notch filters to cover amateur segments of the band, the filters are not good enough to allow a neighbour listening to 1uV to enjoy his hobby.

Nasty... every QTH i've been in since i got my G0 has had real bad QRN and TVI .. a so i gave up for 10 years. new house, new town, new station, new problems, streetlamp interference 15m up to 4m . not tried 2m yet. also instant TVI (Ofcom called again, said i was clean & carry on) a MFJ 1026 was tried (it phased out one source by 180 degrees) but there are multiple sources. new qth planned. gulp. try the phase cancelling devices if you get no luck mate.

Great video and well worth addressing this problem as i've got a intek h-520 plus handheld cb and I get the same thing in some parts but feel lucky my home is far away so my cb set up isn't effected but my friend who i speak to on 27MHz has this problem i hope BT of offcom have a solution maybe a filter of some kind???

It does seem with modern IT hardware they give no thought to RF bleedover. Do they test it and how on earth does it get licenced?! Hope ofcom sort it out but it's a systemic failure to test RFI properly. Cheers.

The Declaration of Comformity for the Comtrend adaptors that you can hear in this video states conformance to EN55022. I've personally had them tested and failed horrendously. They do not comply withthe essential requirements of the EMC regulations so should neither be CE marked or on the market. PLT cannot comply with EMC regs because they wouldn't work.

I find atleast one of these normally in each village I travel through.

I'd be up for logging the gps position of each one and forwarding to ofcom it will help.

I believe these devices should be banned instantly and fine given out to those who don't remove them.

@mikesndbs , Iterferance here was cured within 2 weeks. The secret was to give ofcom accurate measurements from the spectrum analyser. They visited the source and the owners (who knew nothing about rules etc), agreed BT could swap the system for cat-5 cable system. No more probs
