  • the water is so superbly animated

  • Shonen jump needs to re-make it.

  • GOKU!!!

  • The one that started it all.

  • It's being shown on Film4 as part of Studio Ghibli Season. Might watch it, the animation was clearly years ahead of it's time. :3

  • Miyazaki was a key animator on this. FFS it's good, Studio Ghibli needs to re-make this NOW. IMO.

  • No wonder I couldn't stay away from this video! I just learned from Wiki that Miyazaki did the backgrounds and Isao Takahatta (Grave of the Fireflies) was one of the directors for this movie.

  • What the... let me get this straight, it's basically Ryu the Caveboy, but with Miyazaki as a key animator, right before (or parallel?) to his work on Puss 'n boots? Did I just see princess Mononoke's laidback 60's sister totally butcher an Owl?

  • It may not look like it but this is probably THE most influential anime film ever.

  • werent those ghostwolfthings at 0:55 in zelda twilight princess in the snowlevel.

I see alot of toei influences in zelda games. Gulliver looks like wind waker link, the whole toei drawing style is similair to wind waker's style.

  • 1968?!

Japan, you continue to amaze me more and mor everyday.

  • Norse Prince? How come nobody in this anime looks Nordic at all? lol!

  • It blew my mind when I found out this was made in 1968. I look at American animation in the 90's and feel disgust.

  • @frostbitexxxx Dude, Fantasia was made in 1940, and it's still about as good as it gets. Hell, take a look at the roots: Prince Achmed from 1926 is a masterpiece. In the end, animation is picture-making and people have been delivering high quality shit in that particular field since somewhere around 40,000 BC. The 90's gave us stuff like Ren & Stimpy... take a closer look at those frames, Kricfalusi delivers. Good animation is good animation, regardless of period.

  • to bad there is no english dub :(

  • @Rs2thegames there is a dub. I first saw the film on UK TV in 1994, and it was dubbed by Titra.

  • very 60's style.. love it

  • ホルスの大冒険 やはり違うね、名作は。 1968年 東映動画の最高傑作。

  • its Prince Valient????

  • I was looking at the anime and for its time its amazing

  • aww i love oldschool anime, especially studio ghibli, classic :D

  • @JessTheNinjaApricot this was made before Studio Ghibli formed (but it has a lot of the same people I think so you're not off base)

  • studio ghibli is the best beautifull cartoons the rest of the animes ar bullshit

  • @parchettt You can't say that about all the other animes, there are some really good ones, like "The girl who leapt through time" or an old old anime series "Candy Candy". Though i agree with all my heart that studio Ghibli is the best!:)

  • I wanna lead a strong and sturdy life...

  • The animation... GOD THE ANIMATION! It is superb!
