  • You drive too fast....

  • Yea, just a bit... hope I didn't make you carsick! XD Thanks for checking it out =)

  • @jcmegabyte haha i know man! but its still a beautiful ride. thanks for posting this

  • how long did it take to actually get there?

  • In real life this is a 70-minute trip... It would be great if it only took a minute and a half! XD

  • great video but this music is sucks!

  • Thank you for this! My kids and I moved away from Santa Clarita and it's nice to see

    the footage. Cool video!

  • Glad you enjoyed this one - it's kind of a classic trip that anyone who has gone to the beach from Santa Clarita has probably taken at one time of another. Cheers! :-)

  • I remember this drive from the 1960s. Santa Paula, Fillmore, Piru lake.

  • That road's changed a lot since then... it's four lanes pretty much all the way now. I remember when it used to be called the "suicide highway" bacause of all the head-on collisions in that 3rd center passing lane. Had a few close calls myself. :-O Ah yes... those were the days!

  • Ahhh yes, those were the days! It used to be quite the adventure going to the beach that way. Remember the "suicide lane" down the middle? - weekly head-on collisions from people passng in opposite directions... one of the state's most deadly roads.

    Thanks for watching! =)

  • I did one of these on a drive from Visalia to Morro Bay, CA, about 2.5 hours. I shelved the video because an ugly crack in my wife's window was right in them middle of the frame. hehe

  • Might be cool to break-out that vid and finish it... The YT video quality might mask the crack some anyway :-)

  • Again you inspired me to post it. Dang crack in window and all... lol

  • OMG, you're not the only person I thought would do something like this, with a very similar title, I just made one, and it was while we were going to the beach, this video was related to mine too, so I'm going to do a video response to you :D

  • Hahahaa I think everyone should make one of these at least once in their lifetime! XD I'll go check yours out... =)

  • haha, yeah, and ok ;D

  • you can hear the computer pop up in the beggining of the vid. lol

  • I know - I just HAD to leave that in there it was timed so well! XD

  • I knew that was adlib music, but I didn't realize it was from a Doom level I'd actually played. I guess it was a while ago. Shoot me!

  • Hahahaha If you know that Imp line "shoot me" then you definitely played my JCM levels! It's cool to hear from somone who remembers those. Every now and then, I break out zDOOM and play them through just to re-live those days. Ah yes... good times! XD

  • omg!! i think ive driven that same route about 500 times XD soo funny to see it going by so fast, usually about 5 seconds into the movie im about to die of boredum! super cool!

  • Not sure why but it seems like this is one of the most boring drives unless you speed it up like this! I'd go to the beach a lot more if it were this quick :D Thanks for the view and comment :-)

  • haha thats a trip

  • If only commuting could be that fast! hahahaha Thanks for watching :-)

  • To The Beach! Nice video! I must say this is great!

  • Thanks! I have to say I'd go to the beach a lot more if it was THIS fast! :D

  • LOL! if i went that fast nonstop id get there within a few hours 5 tops. From Topeka,Kansas to there.

  • I haven't done the math on THAT distance yet, but the acverage speed in the video (as sped up) was 1920mph! Hahaha!

  • this is mesmerizing too. i could go for this in real life.

  • Hahahaha no kidding! Just press the "super turbo" button on the shift lever! XD

  • tightness!!!

u should do another one 4rm port hueneme to oregon hahaha jk

  • Oh man that would be a loooong drive! Gotta double-up the afterburners for THAT one! hahaha XD

  • damm u must be doing like 500 miles an hour!! lol

  • Ya know, that's a really question! How fast WOULD you actually be going? OK then.. the math: The trip as shown took 72 minutes, or 1.2 hours to go 48 miles. 48miles x 1 hour / 1.2 hours = about 40mph avg, including stops and slow "in-town" traffic.

The video did it in 1.5 minutes, or .025 hours. So, 48miles x 1 hour / .025 hours = 1920mph... Holy crap Batman! I wish my car really DID go that fast! Hahahaha XD

  • Just wondering what kind of camera you have. I love time lapse stuff and want to do some of my own.

  • Hypnotizing, isn't it? :D I use a mini-DV camcorder (JVC), then snag frames with DVAnimator+. You can also use a digital still camera in continuous shooting mode (if it has one) to get a series of frames. The processing afterwards is where the real time and effort comes in. Each sequence ca take hours to build. Ya gotta love it! Thanks for watching :D

  • This brigs back memories when I would travel from santa barbara all the way to Santa Clarita. Thanks.

  • Ahh yes - I've made that trip a few times myself! It's MUCH better now with hwy 126 being 4-lanes all the way. Thanks for riding along! :D

  • The good ol' 126.

  • Hahaha yea - "Head-on Highway" as we used to call it! It's much better now with 4 lanes all the way to the freeway. Thanks for watching!

  • The music makes me miss the shitty soundcard in my 486.

  • Hahaha XD yea, newer cards sound "nicer", but there's something about those Adlib FM chips. After all, as low-end as they may have been, they were still unique instruments which sounded like nothing else. Fortunately, FM/OPL synth emulators can sometimes still play those vintage video game soundtracks with the old school stuff.

I had to use the FM chip emulator in zDOOM to get this soundtrack. A little post-production tweaking added stereo and echo effects. Thanks for watching!

  • OMG i saw a taco bell AWESOME!!

  • There was a Carl's Jr and Micky-D's right on that same street, but I'm glad you spotted the Taco Bell. They're going to take over the world one day. I saw it in a movie! Hahahaha XD Thanks for watching!

  • man i make that drive any chance i get from my house in saugus to the ventura pier to do some fishing, its a great drive.

  • It's a much better drive now... did you ever drive it back in the 1970s? It was widely known as "The Suicide Highway" - the Highway Patrol's pet example of CA's most dangerous roads, complete with "don't speed" TV ads.

Right down the middle of the road (in many places) was a third lane, known as the "suicide lane", for traffic passing in BOTH directions! High-speed head-on collisions were common.

Anyway, Ventura beach/pier is great, fun fishing & no license needed! :D Cheers!

  • i wish the postal service delivered that quickly lol my daughter and i thoroughly enjoyed it . thanx 4 sharing :)

  • My pleasure - thanks for watching :D

  • sweett...

  • I'd love to live in that Simi/San Fernando or Ventura area. I hate living in the Inland Empire.

I've been on that highway twice:

1st time - westbound when I was 8 years old.

    2nd time - eastbound 2 years ago when I was 24.

  • oh shit that was scary. i kept thinkin i was gonna crash

  • Yea, it was a lucky trip. Cops everywhere, most of the drivers half asleep or driving slow in the fast lane - and still, no crashes at all! I even made it through Santa Clarita without a door ding. Amazing! :)

  • your lucky. i live out thier and it is a huge shit hole for anyone who lived hear befor all the construction and destruction. They basicly gutted our city so they could turn it in to a selling monutment. Santa clarita is a huge showcase now. and anyone who didnt live their 10 years agao doesnt belong their now. Especialy the VALENCIA area. letalone snta clarita in general

  • Yea - it's definitely changed a lot since 1968 when I moved here. Looks more like the San Fernando Valley now, 'cept the traffic is WAY worse.

  • Ya man it takes 4 ever

  • very cool...Thank you for driven me.

  • Any time :) (no extra charge for express service!)

  • dude! Vertigo! lOL

  • If only getting anywhere were that fast! Fun video, I enjoyed watching it. :)

  • Great video!!!

  • Lol ok thats pretty cool
