It would have been ok without the laugh track. The laugh track was used for stuff that wasn't even a joke. You'd be watching and then you'd hear laughing and be wtf?!?! Love Parker Posey <3
Not surprised it failed--and I don't blame the actors! I'm no expert, but as a great comic once said, "Comedy ain't pretty." This show tried pretty.
It took on a harsh reality--Asherman's--in a completely inauthentic way. Ha-ha. Many in the audience may know someone who suffers from infertility--struggle with it themselves--or simply have the empathy to imagine real grief. In RJJ, it's just a plot device! No wonder they went for a laugh track. Real comedy plays to a live audience.
i thought some of it was really funny, mostly the parts with parker being a nut, like when she busted out the kitty phones. does anyone know if there's a way to get our hands on the unaired episodes?
I'm a huge fan of Parker Posey and Lauran Ambrose. That's why it hurts me to say that I was not overly impressed with the first episode. I think they were attempting some 90's sitcom throwback but it just appeared outdated.
This show was horrible. First I thought it was the acting, that wasn't it. It was the horrible writing!!! Yikes!
Oh and why pull any of the snippets video on Youtube of this horrendous show. You would think that Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation would want as many people to see a snippet and come view this sorry crap.
You probably know less than Amy Sherman, Daniel Palladino, Parker Posey, Lauren Ambrose, Dianne Wiest, Ron McLarty, Scott Cohen & co. about writing and acting. About one thing you're absolutely right. "Jezebel James" isn't worthy of a network like Fox. It should have been NBC or ABC, it would have gone pretty awesomely along with "Samantha who?"
Couldn't agree more! Wise cracks may work in a show about teen angst like GG, but in a show about infertility bringing together estranged, polar-opposite sisters? The 'tudes that seemed '30s madcap on GG just go over like a lead balloon here. Real comedy ain't afraid to play it straight: COMEDY AIN'T PRETTY!
Great---finally something to watch on Friday nites! Sorry, some of us like to stay home and watch a little comedy after a week of racing with the rest of the rats. And I thought this show actually has a little potential after I saw the first segments. Almost a little Mary Tyler Moore-ish, but with today's issues.
Thank Gawd! This was one horrible show! Such good acting talent, but the writing for the show was horrendous. As a potential viewer, I have to go on strike against the rest of the episodes.
Oh and by the way Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation don't pull any more vids of this horrible show from Youtube. You should welcome the exposure.
ive never even heard of this, until this book "sitcom bombs" came out...damn guess it didnt get much of a chance

I tried watching this about a month ago... I tried twice. I couldn't make it five minutes in each time. Terrible, it was torture to just sit down.
I've never seen Gilmore Girls.
