Nice rig; like the mods. Good video, too! My X is a 2008, w/ over 70K already. We just returned from an 8K trip out west pulling a small camper. Did some pretty hard trails in Moab w/ super steep slick-rock trails and some bad rocks, but none as serious as this. I'm running 33's, a 2" lift & armor plates on the underbody. The X did great on a Moab trail called Fins and Things, rated "difficult." Nothing stopped me there; did better than a Rubicon on one tough part. Anyway, nice video!
Well there is no part number for Milemarkers 98-2004 nissan frontiers or xterras. Maybe there is a reason MM doesnt offer them? I know the 28 spline from older nissans fits but from what this video shows the presure applied and braking without alot of wheel spin. So your theory is correct about angles but the inner shaft may get pushed inward and somehow exploed the MM. Maybe a missalignment issue inside the MM. Nissan has plastic slined piece that should be installed with these id read on
How did you install your MMs. Someone mentioned you need to reinstall plastic spline thingy from your stockers. Havent dont mine yet, your break looks like angle proglem.
I'm not exactly sure how he installed the MM's, but I can guarantee you breaking a hub will NEVER have anything to do with ANY angle...
Think about it for a second...
How does the angle transfer more torque to the hub? Lets not get a hub confused with a CV axle here; Okay..?
sry for being kinda harsh, but I've heard that like 3-4 times already and usually just delete the comment since it makes NO sense that a bad angle could have any effect on the hub...
@TrailChaser i agree with you putting alot of stress on ur cv axles will cause them to fail ive been through =) 1998 gmc yukon plus 8 inches of lift doesnt like my ifs bullshit but i think what hes saying is like sidwards stress from the tire gripping the rock an trying to shear the tire from the vehicle but at your speeds an weight of the vehicle is highly unlikley
@TrailChaser angle could brake a hub from angle think about it if the alinment sux then the tires will fight every thing holding them on also wether or not its a cv or a hub will both brake if one tire is held bak sorry to be harsh =3-
wow abuse i call that, learn to drive a jeep wrangler with lift and some tires your just trashing equipment. I have mile markers on my frontier but never brake em because i dont abuse my chit.
I have wheeled THIS X hard for 4 years now. It has had almost no mechanical problems in that time. I have broken one CV and 3 hubs a couple windows, tail lights and mirrors. I think that is acceptable damage for nearly 50 wheeling trips.
My brother runs a 2001 Wrangler. On the same trips he has broken 2 axle shafts, one transmission, one drag link, and ruined transfer case linkage 3 times.
I am willing to try crazy stuff and fix what I break. Wheel what you like and have FUN!
As a former Xterra owner I do occasionally like to include X's in the vids I choose to watch. Watching this one made me so happy that I traded in my X for a Rubicon.
Don't get me wrong- I loved my X, but a lot of money was wasted into making it a better trail rig. What could it do? No better than what this video showed.
Do yourself a favor- ditch the IFS- and sell the X. Buy yourself something with a solid front axle. It's addition by subtraction.

I've heard of the MM hubs exploding but in the case was it the hub or the studs that broke? I noticed one was missing. Just curious.
The studs that Warn used years ago would break. I replaced mine with socket head bolts years ago and haven't had any problems.
