1. There were two people playing actual chess. If they lost a piece, a cosplayer on the board "died"

2. We had to sign up a little before the con. They had some guidelines. It all depends on the con and what they want. Often these things are themed, so you have to have a costume fitting the theme

They're planned. Go to the "events" section of whatever cons you go to. They usually list there whether or not they're having one, when to sign up, etc.

this is cosplay chess. It's like regular chess but you use cosplayers as the pieces. The players move like chess pieces. But when a piece is taken, example a black knight takes over a white pawn, the cosplayers assigned the knight and pawn battle (to make it interesting) I hope that sums it up. XD

This was a fun event. I wish there had been more seating, that the players were sideways to the crowd instead of with their backs to us, and that maybe the DJ stand could have been against the wall so there would have been two sides open for people to stand and watch... but it was still fun. =) Looking forward to seeing another one.
