It is hard for me to believe he was a bastard. He does seem to be so deep. He may be a perfectionist when it comes to his music. He may be difficult when it comes to that. But overall he doesn't seem like a bastard, like a hardass. He may be right how can someone who writes so beautiful music be so cold. Hopefully he's changed. To me he seems very sweet.

Yeah, he's really a bastard. I saw him interviewed on Latin American TV and he was really stuffy and full of himself The guy is a full-blooded hispanic. His parents were from Argentina and moved to England.

Roland's mother is English, his father is French/Basque combo. There is family lineage from Argentina on the father's side.

Pretty eye-opening to hear Roland call himself a "bahhhstard". But his laugh immediately thereafter, is adorable(IMO). I like his peculiar sense of humor.

full Elemental studio interview on youtube by tearsforcoldplay. really grainy but terrific interview. i agree about Elemental. Elemental,Cold,Mr.Pessimist and Break It Down Again,which Rolling Stone mag called possibly one of the best songs ever written,are all wonderful. I also agree that RATKOS is Rolands masterpiece. TFF,Curt Smith and especially Roland Orzabal have never done anything that was a low point. You're a fan or you're not. I am.

This was where everything went wrong for Tears for Fears. A low point. Though Elemental had some good songs... half it was anti-Curt Smith and self-centred lyrics. 'Raoul and the Kings of Spain', the next album released after Elemental, was far better and worthy of being called a classic.
