No, religions have not always existed. Yes, eye for an eye, might very much be religious. Dont kill is not. The moral code, no killing, stealing, help others etc. Is an evolutionary trade. The people that helped others got helped when they needed. So they syrvived and had kids. The kids learned. No other animal than humans have any concept of religion, but they still have morals. And humans did have morals too, long before we invented religion.

Second. I´ve heard this before and I know that its wrong. How it works is that, when people get children they baptize them, not out of religous belief, but becouse of tradition. And then the children get (what do you call it) registered into the church. For most people in sweden, religion doesnt matter so they doesnt care if they are a member of the church or not. So that statistics doesnt say how many believers there are, it only say how many members there are. Membership doesnt really affect you so therefore you dont think about it. And therefore you dont cancel it. But if you really ask people if they believe in a god or not, about 80% will say no.
BTW, just because Ben Franklin and Abe Lincoln didn't believe that bible, doesn't mean they weren't theists!
