Just a bit of info about wing chun for the trash talkers. Wing chun is widely accepted in martial arts as one of the most practical and effective forms of martial arts you can learn. Forms in most martial arts are for learning basic technique and conditioning many do have aplications but not in the rigid sequence present in most forms.
Some forms are for conditioning , some are for actual application , forms is just a name - diff systems use forms for diff purposes. In the case of WC , forms are not actual application coz it doesn't believe in fix patterns nor is it for chi gung practice but I am sure trash talkers already knew that. WC forms represents , structure, strategy and principles NOT application . In terms of application, I can assure the viewers my friend, Suki , the guy in the clip can more than hold his own .
Excellent thank you for sharing this. I had the pleasure of meeting him several times. He is a gentleman and an excellent martial artist. Rare indeed to see some original authentic Red Boat Wing Chun.
wow, dude, what's your Chi-level? Mine's over 9000
No but seriously, what the fuck is the meaning of this?
I thought Wing Chun was the NON-spiritual branch of Kung Fu, that didn't involve magic hidden dragon power bullshit like this. Try doing this in a real fight (since, that was what the style was developed for - self defense), I'd just roundhouse you to the head.
@renegadefunkman what are they made for then? Charging your hidden shadow-master Chi power? So you're basically saying that you're doing a Kata? That's fucking hilarious. Go learn a real martial art, you'll never win a fight with this magic slapping anyways.
@TheTramsen Most of what is "practiced" is non applicable in street encounters. They have a lot of benefit for your reflexes, conditioning, timing, etc., but you really only use about 10% of what you've practiced. This is true for traditional martial arts, full contact, mma, wu shu, wrestling, judo, even boxing. Don't really see why you thought this was a "spiritual" form. RBWC was often used by people that had to really had kill, with no one being able to witness it.
