@orkneymist Nah, the Japs didn't scramble a fighter squadren for one aircraft, they just wrote it off as a recon aircraft. Plus, I don't think many of their aircraft had superchargers in them, as the B-29s flew quite high, and the air is super thin up that high. That is why they were working with the Nazis on jet technology. If they got their jets operational on a large scale, the B-29s would have been in serious trouble.

@liveShit FYI; Even with our B-29 bombers, we could barely reach Japan and make it back without running out of fuel. It was a very long 3000 mile round trip. We beat them off a few islands, but they were still plenty strong! Because of the alliance with Germany, they were working on jet aircraft! One was very similar to Me262. Mass production of that aircraft alone could have made the war much longer. Our B-29s would have been sitting ducks. The Japanese were plenty strong and dangerous.

What many of you fail to realize is that even after the atomic bombs were dropped many generals and admirals were still wanting an invasion. They just saw the A bomb as a way to clear resistence for the invasion, which would have killed many American soldiers. So the atomic bombs could have been the instrument of death for many american troops. Only the russian invasion of Manchuria and the failed coup in Japan spared American lives.
It may have won the war, but it was still an act of terrorism, and was unjustified.
If you want to scare them with it, it could have been used in a less leathal way. Here's how. Just have it dropped OFF THE COAST of Japan, and when they saw the BIG ASS explosion it made, it wouldn't take a genious to know that it would be DEVISTATING if dropped in an inhabited area. Just SEEING it's massive power would have convinced the Japanese to stop fighting. Use of the a-bomb in cites was 100% UNJUSTIFIED!

At the time Japan was absolutely maniacal about protection and anybody old enough to hold a weapon would have been required to fight and thus be targeted as a soldier. In fact, Einstein himself doubted it would be possible --- it was much less possible than nuke power plants. That's from his letter to FDR. The problem is the enormous spacing between nuclei, and the kinetic theory of heat ---- the critical mass would melt or vaporize long before the claimed energy release takes place.

The teaching aid said that I should not worry about about nuke bombs, because I do not know if it even happened, because I myself have never seen it. The others had questions themselves about the science. One HS science teacher admitted that some say the FUSION ( hydrogen, thermonuclear ) bomb is a hoax.

Without the power of suggestion that it had already happened, no one would look at this and regard it as actual historical footage. Horrible, cheap special effects ---- the mushroom clouds are cut together, and the explosion in Nagasaki clearly is a superimposed image. There is also bad acting. Does that pilot smiling and waving have the demeanor you would expect ? And the bombs weigh so much, yet they just roll them out with great ease. Take away the ominous music, and you have NOTHING

@orkneymist Nah, the Japs didn't scramble a fighter squadren for one aircraft, they just wrote it off as a recon aircraft. Plus, I don't think many of their aircraft had superchargers in them, as the B-29s flew quite high, and the air is super thin up that high. That is why they were working with the Nazis on jet technology. If they got their jets operational on a large scale, the B-29s would have been in serious trouble.

We were at WAR with Japan, they started the war with Pearl Harbor while we were at peace with them in 1941 and this was the ONLY way to stop them without invasion. That is FACT! @liveShit FYI; Even with our B-29 bombers, we could barely reach Japan and make it back without running out of fuel. It was a very long 3000 mile round trip. We beat them off a few islands, but they were still plenty strong! Because of the alliance with Germany, they were working on jet aircraft! One was very similar to Me262. Mass production of that aircraft alone could have made the war much longer. Our B-29s would have been sitting ducks. The Japanese were plenty strong and dangerous.

When China was weaken by USA Japan attacked (ofc they were doing horrible things and should be punished - but they weren't - same with Nazi doctors/scientists). USA later blocked crude oil for Japs so Japan attacked Pearl Harbor which ended up in A-Bombs in 1945. But USA started China problem...

What many of you fail to realize is that even after the atomic bombs were dropped many generals and admirals were still wanting an invasion. They just saw the A bomb as a way to clear resistence for the invasion, which would have killed many American soldiers. So the atomic bombs could have been the instrument of death for many american troops. Only the russian invasion of Manchuria and the failed coup in Japan spared American lives.

It may have won the war, but it was still an act of terrorism, and was unjustified.
If you want to scare them with it, it could have been used in a less leathal way. Here's how. Just have it dropped OFF THE COAST of Japan, and when they saw the BIG ASS explosion it made, it wouldn't take a genious to know that it would be DEVISTATING if dropped in an inhabited area. Just SEEING it's massive power would have convinced the Japanese to stop fighting. Use of the a-bomb in cites was 100% UNJUSTIFIED!

@mazdarodi Fighting forces of Japan and America in the war, if you were called out to fight theirs a chance you could die, but why get the innocent involved in it. Yes Japan attacked innocent people in Pearl Harbor but does that mean we should stoop down to their level? Are we trying to set an example here or just claiming ourselves victorious? @koenigdp1978 I totally agree! An invasion would have cost tens of thousands of lives on both sides. At the time Japan was absolutely maniacal about protection and anybody old enough to hold a weapon would have been required to fight and thus be targeted as a soldier. It happened in Germany as they ran out of soldiers there. Imagine the psychological effects on both sides as that would have taken place invading Japan. It would have taken years too. Like I said before, war still sucks.
