  • @seanseanleprechaun Coconut is the modern spelling. Cocoanut is the "OLD" spelling (if i get what OED means, it's outdated) Another reason to use the modern spelling, less confusion with the cacao or cocoa BEAN from which chocolate is made. The original spelling of this, and Cocoanut Grove, were variants.

  • The world needs more entertainers like this. I grew up listening to him, such talent, such passion.

My father Edmond Luera introduced his children to the beautiful music of Harry Belafonte, Edyie Gorme, Little Joe and the latinaires, Javier Solis, Lucha Villa and many others, Soo many memories live in our hearts and of course my father will never be forgotten, Thank you father for the great memories. I Love and Miss You Much, Lisa

  • This song, a Mexican Himno, is a luxury Harry can afford with his unique voice and talent as an entreteiner, not to mention his impecable human values. From Argentina, I am sure any Mexican Citizen should feel proud. You don´t get this seniority and class much any more in this days. Belafonte, my hat is off

  • @diegoavruj Yes but you have to admit...he is no Lola Beltrán

...LOLA LA GRANDE!! ( who made this song famous). Now that is an entertainer with a voice.

  • @diegoavruj It is beautiful. He was amazing in his youth; sang in so many languages. My hat is also off. Harry you Rock!

  • @diegoavruj i am mexican and i think this is fucking great!!!!

  • @McRaims I am Aussie and I think Belafonte's version is fucking great, and the most beautiful song ever written. In my student days me and a Maori guy used to sing this at parties. We sure dragged in the chicks too :)

  • Harry Belafonte still in our hearts with his great hits.

    Beautiful song to remember.

    Thanks.

  • @joeelipo Totally agree, but he's still alive. "Still in our hearts" almost sounds like you think he died.

  • Did he write this song? because i've always heard this song from a spanish lady. I think a cuban lady, but i forget her name...

  • Cu cu rru cu cu Paloma is a mexican song by Tomás Méndes

  • @mrcatrinmiss9 Ahh.. thank you!!!

  • @rauviz the woman you heard is Chabela Vargas

  • @rauviz um, no. It was written by a mexican song writer and mostly performed by Mexican singers.

  • Harry Belafonte was born in New York City in 1927 of Jamaican parentage. When he was 8 years old he was sent to Jamaica to live with his grandmother and returned to the States at age 15

He is accomplished actor and who started singing pop music to help pay for acting lessons. He later changed to singing folk music.

Harry was part of the Civil Rigts movement of the 60's and is a great humanitarian. He was one of the great sex symbol of our time. And yes, he is still alive.

  • In the old days (1960) there was this joke:

    Q:-Hey,what is grey and sings?

    A:-Harry Elafonte!

Belafonte was very wel known and at his tops these days. He indeed had a very nice voice, but his songs were of great acceptance, too.

  • there's a rooster and Paloma is a Dove it's that a mistake?

bty. chereherico u left out tha he is the father to miss cheri belafonte.

    peace.

  • @DonAlcapurrio thats right , i dont know why . should it been a dove...

    lol lol lol ;-D

  • is this harry singing in spanish? wow. i don't know much about this fella. who is he? what nationality? is he still alive? still singing?

  • Harry Belafonte is form Jamaica and is famous for his "Calypso" songs. He's still alive but quite old. He made his last concert a few years ago (it's a real shame, I love his voice).

Hope this helped. For more check Wiki

  • Yes, this is definitely Belafonte. He's still alive, but he'd be in his 80s by now.

  • In my opinion Harry had a better voice than Dean Martin, and Dean was great. Unfortunately Harry is very underrated.

  • You're right about Dino. I loved him.

Belafonte might be underrated now but I remember when he was at the top. Beautiful man, beautiful singer.

  • HArry was non-white as well!!! This should account for that. Respectfully , yours Thanks.

  • I have never heard anyone consider Martin's singing to be anywhere near on par with Belafonte and he was widely respected in the 50's. Martin was a comedian who the women liked and he sang a little to please his female following, not because anyone ever even considered him a singer.

  • Nicer voice then DEAN"S? I LOVE HARRY TOO,but DINO"S BETTER - OPINIONS ARE not for arguing, beautiful music and voices are ours to cherrish forever.

  • come m'innamoro!!

  • Grandissimo Harry,insuperabile...

  • Grande el Rey del Calipso!!! :)

  • porque le pusieron fotos de gallos? hahah

Why are there images of roosters on the video?...Paloma = Pigeon

Great version...best one I've heard yet.

  • you are very funny !!!

    THX

  • Blow me down!! Whaaaaat? This is definitely the best version of this very, very beautiful song. Wow!!!!

  • of all the Cu Cu Ru Cu Cu Palomas recorded (that i have heard) I LIKE THIS ONE BEST!!!

  • superb

  • booooaahhhh , ...... what a great and beautyfull voice ! ! !

was für eine unglaublich geile stimme. schöne interpretation

  • CDdaddy: Harry Belafonte...a man of integrity. The world is a better place because he is in it. Can't say the same for you.

  • an ignorant thing to say... he was a great singer song writer, still is, but now, he is a perpetrator of hate, and a creator of conflict.

  • he is? why?

  • 69Tuscany: I think what You are telling CDdaddy is perfectly correct

  • YEAH 69Tuscany>> woot woot you tell those jerk offs

  • how do you know??????????????

  • SZEP!

  • As a child, Belafonte lived Jamaica with his father's mother for 5 years.

  • What nationality? This makes me want to go to the islands.

  • Is Belefonte his real name? It's not spanish. What Island is he from?

  • you sound awesome.

  • salinas

  • Let , egy uj kedvencem ! Koszi !

    5*

  • Skutočne krása - beautiful wow!!!

  • Harry Belafonte is a great singer, but I prefer Pedro Infante's rendition

  • Good. He's a corner stone

  • oooo wow!!!!!!!!! this version rivals pedro infantes....

just search cu cu ru cu cu paloma pedro infante, and youll see...

great voice, think ill look into harry more.

  • right, I had never lessen to him singing this song, and yes he is as good as Infante

  • A Paloma is a DOVE, not a hen.

    The illustration is wrong

  • You are very, very bright....

  • perhaps it is an old dove disguised as a rooster. Tjis is funny

  • Hahaha

  • Beautiful,beautiful

  • thissong brings back memory used to listen to it back in haiti when i wuz very young

  • Buena version.

  • thank you Harry BETAFONTE,you are big.

  • Ez nagyon jó. Imádom Harry Belafonte-t!

  • yes,I like it

  • I think the more acurate translation for "paloma" in the tradition of this song would be "dove".

  • merveilleux harry belafonte....

  • Try cucurucucu paloma by Caetano Veloso

  • go screw a goat or something

  • Sure, you offering Billy?

  • oh shut up

  • well i think he sounds like <julio Iglesas in this version of the song

  • the best version of the great of greatest artists.....

  • best version of cucurucucu i know but i do not understand the images cause as far as i know a "paloma" is a "pigeon" which also says "cucurucucu" and which accords better with a "great lovesong" than a "chicken". is there some mistake involved ?

  • MAJOR mistake. The idiot who posted this thinks a paloma is a papagallo.

  • small mistake thomascrown, not an idiot but a great person with a fine sentiment for good music, just not enough acquanted with spanish which is gladly forgiven.

  • don tomás, the mistake is also yours, you think a papagayo (Psittacidae) [True parrots] is a gallo (gallus gallus)[Chicken], and YES, Harry dixit PALOMA (Columbidae)[dove].

    everybody can be an idiot

  • Belafonte es Dios

  • Solo porque canto en Espanol. Silly

  • Szia Kedves Judika ! Köszönöm szépen Nagyon jó szám Puszi. Magdi.
