Actually, more accurately, the more revolutions in the ball, the more spin.
That can be done by giving it more flight, but that usually results in enough time for the batsmen to predict exactly where the ball will land, and knowing the type of spin, could be more harmful than helpful for bowler, some flight, but not over-doing it.
Just to sum things up... Im an Off-Spinner and you are advised to give the ball sum air so it drops onto the turf, therefore increasing the chance of the ball actually spinnin, opposed to whackin the ball in low and fast and gettin very little time and space for the rotations to have any effect!!
