@xragans - ashamed? do you have any idea how right herbert w armstrong's church or
pastor hoggard ot mr texe marrs is? -obviously not. there was ONE rap artist i agreed with. ONE. its the truth in their message. not the music. it was DESTINY LAB. but i still only agree with traditional hymns, ironically approved by the catholic church and or kings of days old. because the vatican IS the illuminati. period.
BUT IT IS NOT IN ROCK ONLY,NOW IT IS IN ALL THE INDUSRY,LOOKA T RHIANNA UMBRELLA LYRICS,OR DISTURBIA?LOOK AT DAVID GUETTA'S SONGS AND MUSIC."THE WORLD IS MINE","NIGHT OF MY LIFE" ,DJ BOBO "SHADOWS OF THE NIGHT ETC.
Segment opens with blatant racism. That which the Bible does not specifically forbid is not a sin. Nowhere does scripture forbid drums, nor the playing of them (which is why I suspect you quote a book about African Rituals more than the Bible). You condemn the Supertones. Here's a sample of their lyrics: "Kids in universities drowning in an ocean of apostate philosophy. We need apologetic instruction. Mental reconstruction" . Satanic because it doesn't mention God or deity?
People died during that song Sympathy for the Devil being played. It is horrible.
I believe that GOD has had HIS Hands on my life since I was a little girl and I'm very grateful. I have a very powerful testimony and give all the glory to the Lord Jesus Christ, the Father God and the Holy Ghost. I share it with people whenever I get an opportunity and the Lord tells me to.
In some cases it is unfortunately true, there are "Christian" bands that say they are Christian just to get signed to a label. Then when they go mainstream it's bye bye to the bible for them. There are some Christian bands that are truly blessed though.
@awaitthegroom -For which one? They used to be half Christian. Bono and The Edge were, the drummer told them to drop Christ or he was gone. I would have said LATER!! But, I'm still praying for them.
@bodom71 There is a good expose of them in They Sold their souls - Bono sings this very song and dresses with Satanic horns and gives the satanic handsign. He also masks as Mr Mestophilies which again is wearing red horns. Socially he appears charitable- otherwise some of the things they have sung or said are very dubious and certainly would not honour our Lord. again- we are not to imitate the world, have any appearance of evil or conform to the ways of the world
@awaitthegroom yea I saw that one. I was shocked to realize they had went that far..they are on dangerous ground....and they don't even realize it. All we can do is pray for them!
Have you listened to some of these albums that you referenced? Take Cross Movement for example. You had a clip from them at 1:11. The lyrics from that song were saying they don't rap just to rap- it's the vehicle they use to share the gospel- even if God took that away they'd just find another way to share it. And they also have a song on the same album called "Lord You are" and "Closer to You" give those a listen before you say anything about "no Jesus in the lyrics"
I would agree. Christians should see the difference in any genre of music.there is a time when we should full our ears with pure Worship and that should be the majority of what you listen to. Music that just glorify God.
Cross Movement makes godly music. You shouldn't slander those that do the Lord's work. To say that God can't reach people through a certain genre of music is putting a limitation on God's power and ability. How can you say there's no reference to God or Jesus in that clip that you played from Cross Movement. It is a useful tool to reach and teach those in the world.
music is a means of worship, and expression of the person God made you. IF MUSIC DOESN'T MATTER, why would God make musicians? i'd be careful saying what matters and what doesn't when it comes to God, just because you think something is unnecessary...doesn't mean it's unnecessary in Gods eyes.

@deathrockunion If this music gets a kid saved, gets him or her thinking about doing the right things, and following the calling God has for him or her i don't see anything wrong with that. If evil comes as angels of light, why wouldn't good appear as evil to us? just flip it around and think about it, trying to pinpoint new christian music as nothing but evil is insulting the calling God has placed on these musicians. Just like calling someone ugly...it's insulting Gods creation.
I grew into Rap and Rock music so I know and understand what it does to you. The fact that in christian rock and rap the lyrics change does not mean is from God. And how come those who sing rap and rock dress the same as the secular rockers and rappers?
We all have emotions as humans and our flesh always wants to be pleased. In my opinion music is to grorify God no us, because the levits did this, and all the angels in heaven sing to God.
There is a reason why you won't hear hard core Christian music on secular radio! Because it glorifies Christ! Stop spending all your time on this useless subject. If it Glorifies Christ, its good! If u reach the younger generation & soften their hearts-then u can introduce the hyms and lighter songs of the spirit
@Starronearth Imitate the world, grieve the Holy Spirit.
The spirit of God does NOT live in rap music. I see not one shred of evidence that today's youth are being coverted through this satanic abomination. This is a perversion of real music. People are converted by hearing the gospel, and making up their minds to seek God, and to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ
@sparwood8 I'm not imitating anybody when I write my rhymes & don't fall for the stereotype that we are all the same.. speaking about african americans as well. I don't wear oversized clothes and don't dance around like the brother's in the video.
@sparwood8 God created music.. I'm taking a talent that he's given me (rhythmic poetry) and glorifying Him with it. Its the lyrical content that determines whether a song is "holy" or not. But thank you for telling me what I'm copying when that is definitely not that case.
Try putting a normal 14 year old in a church pew and see if they sing along with you when the dusty organ plays "Amazing Grace" (which MELODY was lifted from an ancient BAR song)...and watch how fast that kid runs from you, the church, and Christ. While I appreciate the time, thought, and energy you invested in this series, I gotta wonder if perhaps there is a greater cause that would have benefited from it.
Trying preaching the gospel to the boy and let him know he is a sinner and broken Gods law! Then maybe he will get saved and want to be listening to hymns.
Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
@preachtruth08 I'm saved, and I don't want to listen to/ sing MOST hymns. Most of them are unbiblical to begin with (ladened with false humility and such). Many of them have had their melodies lifted from secular songs. You guys are straining at gnats while swallowing camels...If you want to sing those old stale hymns, more power to you. But you aren't gonna keep kids from listening to the kind of music they like.
The band at 2:20 is Kutless. Here's an example of some original Kutless lyrics AS PRINTED in CD sleeve:
"By Your grace You let me come and talk to You/ Its not that I'm worthy, I thank You JESUS for the love that You have shown"
From the song "All of the Words" from the CD "Strong Tower" which is a WORSHIP album. An album which features the name of Jesus 13 times over 13 songs.
Thats devil worship?
You should RESEARCH a band
thoroughly before you include them in a slanderous video.
@popimpslab Well, honestly I guess I meant rap about inappropriate things... like planning to do it with shorty all night whether she likes it or not. No offense, if there was any.
Some Hymns were Christian Lyrics with BAR music. Historic Fact. African Christians play the same "style" of music as regular African music. Fact. I agree some new bands are not singing about Jesus, but some of them are and they love Him. They are trying to reach a lost, broken, mother less, father less, friend less generation and as usual the "all about me" generation only cares for themselves. It is no wonder the youth wants nothing to do with us. JUDGE NOT BY APPEARENCE, JUDGE RIGHTEOUS.
Surely these guys can't ALL be "The OC Supertones"?
The band from 2:50-3:15 are clearly copying the style of worldly bands, from the provocatively low-slung guitars to the angry and spaced-out facial expressions. No "joy of the Lord", or "worship in spirit and in truth" evident there. "Evangelism"? Wouldn't know - couldn't make out the words; they were totally subservient to and almost completely obscured by the music.
Incidentally, ...no, not incidentally. Its important. I see the same with the faces of artists on their album covers. You know, that "fashionable" sullen look . Why do supposedly christian artists prefer to mimick the facial attitudes of their drug-taking, bed-hopping, Satan-serving unsaved counterparts? Why are they ashamed to show in their faces the serene joy of a life surrendered to the Lord?
Where is the "be ye separate" in this? Answers please? Please read 2 Corinthians 6:11-18
3:53 sure there`s a big difference, it is spiritual. christian bands sing to God, way difference there, plus who can tell, by the way someone expreses in terms of clothing etc, cannot have a relatioship with God?, come on!
Kellybobby, please try and say something meaningful. Anyone can "stick their tongue out", but it takes a little thought and logic to actually make a point.
You can't begin to compare your one and two-word jibes to the studious, well-researched and thoughtful production that hoggard has recorded. While I don't agree with everything he says here, he has built a built a developing argument upon scriptural foundations, drawn on experts in their field and arrived at logical (even if too broad-sweeping) conclusions. You, on the other hand have indulged in "hand-waving" and haven't actually debated a single point.
4:25 the last band featured... supertones... quite possible one of the most God glorifying and Christ preaching bands i have ever heard... yes it's a fine line, we are called to be in the world but not of the world.
bbowen you may be right if the words could be clearly heard, but why drown them out with such angry, stress-filled noise?
Why does a supposedly christian band have to deliberately try to copy both visually and musically the bands that promote ellicit sex, drugs and stanic lyrics?
As christians we have something in the Lord Jesus Christ that is so much better than all that.
i don't think they are deliberately copying those bands,,, most band promoting illicit sex have many scantly clad women. i saw none.
same for drugs, i actually thought they were showing a fun time dancing, all the way to the hard working janitor. and for the lyrics.. its been a while since i actually watched this video, (pastor above) and i found his remarks quite ironic considering the slice of video he presented... i need another comment for that.
watch the video again, 4:08, pastor above states how lyrical content rarely actualy mentions god let alone Jesus, and he challenges us to check on that, so i did, google superfly, oc. supertones... haha
JESUS is the 19th word. i didnt take long for that song to get going to mention who get's all the praise. granted not all songs are like that, yes yes i agree, just ironic. ill post the last verse of that song farther down this page... a better place for it.
So what would be an example the rhythm of a christian song ? And are particular melodies (regardless of rhythm) unchristian ? If so could I get an example ?
Christian Rap is a mixture of the world with Jesus Christ, which the Bible clearly tells not to do - 1 John 2:15, Ephesians 5:1-21, 1 Thess. 5:21-23, etc. We are supposed to use godly music to glorify God and leave the worldly music to the world.
Rap is a style! If satanists had a monopoly on knitting, should christians not make sweaters? All rap consists of is quickly spoken poetry. Most of the secular rap is disgusting and about sinful things, making it ugly and offensive poetry Christian rap is quickly spoken poetry to musical meter about Godly things. If we avoided all the things the world did, christians would have nothing at all to do or work with.
@Alleluia7 Have you read the Book Of Adam and Eve...Cain's children tricked the holy descendants off of God's Holy Mountain through music and the children could not find their way back up to the mountian. You'll have to google the book because it was taken out of the cannon of the bible. Also read the Book of Enoch. It used to be in the bible also but was removed. The Ethiopic Bible has more books in the old testament than our whole King James bible..why?
@Alleluia7 The info you have bought to light is solid. I do not agree with all your points on African Music because I know the culture. I do understand how satan once named Lucifer was the head of music in heaven. This is where the source of corruption comes from. It is amazing to read how he taught one of Cain's children how to use music to get God's children off of the mountian. God Bless You Brother. I Love You!
@Alleluia7 I believe that you don't need music to serve God. I mean already most of it is corrupted and all we have to do is read the word and pray so I don't understand why music is such a stress into the church n into serving God. I never took christian rap seriously becuz I never believed it was any importance to God. Music is just an option to me its not neccessary to me n sadly people get too sensitive to that to the fact that you have to have music. I don't think that. The word is it.
@Alleluia7 And who gave us the ability to make music God. how is this not godly music did u listen to they lyrics i mean cum on there is a diff. hymns were not accepted in the church at first if u do some reaserch. we r not bieng of the world we are in it and taking it back dawg we takin it back fo da kingdom. so i rep dat 116 to all my christians doin hip hop reach out to all da g's out der to everybody who dancin to a beat fo jesus keep doin it caus u r using a gift he gave u.
@MrBP116 Don't be biblically ignorant. Read what Alleluia said to sintje21 above. As true followers of Jesus Christ, we are NOT to be of this world. Meaning that we are not suppose to mimic what non-believers do or say. When you study "Christian rap" or any other form of secular Christian music, it is clearly visible that the majority of these artists are in it for the MONEY. Artists like Jars of Clay, da T.R.U.T.H, Kirk Franklin, and Mary Mary are too focus on the world and not on God.
@MrVigilant78 Actually dude i am not bieng biblicly ignorant because i don't see any were in the bible were it says dat rap is wrong. The psalms is a whole book of raps cause the def. of rap is poetry put to music. how m i bieng of dis world if i was bieng like the world i would be cusin, talkin bout sex, gangbangin, and all dat other garbage. and how do u know there in it fo the money. And i am suppose to be in dis world interacting with these people in a way they understand the gospel.
@MrBP116 I don't represent the church. All I'm saying is that without a basic grasp of English, most will join me in considering your ideas unimportant.
@MrVigilant78 we r not mimicing the world man if we were we would be rappin bout sex and drugs. u do know that satan cant creat he can only pervert right. and u do know that we can take things back for christ right. God created everything on earth even rap and it can be used for good. Just like marajuna it is a naturel pain killer used in the right doses it is more effective and better then the unatrual stuff we take but people choose to abuse it.
@sintje21 actually i can vouch for alleuelua , im just a observer here, i remember a few weeks ago, my pastor, bishop calvin johnson, was preaching at a womens conference in L.A, cali, and strangely enough 3 ofthe biggest musicians for teh street artists were doing worship music there at the conference. One of them used to play the sax for Tonex, who is now a gay "christian" rapper, the other was a keyboard player for snoop dog, and the other i dont remember. but each had demons living in them.
@the7ronin well sure enough, this lady preacher gets up to talk about repentance and those same musicians behind her said, "hey lets get out of here.. we hate her kind of talk..." well the bishop was in that conference, and towards the end of the service he called those 3 musicians to the alter to pray for them. and the lord told em that there was a demon spirit of hip hop in them. and he casted them out. but one devil refused to let this one guy go. The Guy said he wanted this demon out...
@the7ronin well bishop commanded this spirit to tell him his name, he said his name was hip hop! and this demon came out of him, he saw him crawl on the ceiling!!!. He left the church building after that.... but thats what i heard from my pastor, about taht trip... that stuff is serious...

@sparwood8 I'm not imitating anybody when I write my rhymes & don't fall for the stereotype that we are all the same.. speaking about african americans as well. I don't wear oversized clothes and don't dance around like the brother's in the video.
Destind2Be 1 year ago
@Destind2Be Whatever. Still copies the world. HEY< stick with it. If some people DO get saved (and I mean converted) then praise the Lord
sparwood8 1 year ago
@sparwood8 God created music.. I'm taking a talent that he's given me (rhythmic poetry) and glorifying Him with it. Its the lyrical content that determines whether a song is "holy" or not. But thank you for telling me what I'm copying when that is definitely not that case.
Destind2Be 1 year ago
Try putting a normal 14 year old in a church pew and see if they sing along with you when the dusty organ plays "Amazing Grace" (which MELODY was lifted from an ancient BAR song)...and watch how fast that kid runs from you, the church, and Christ. While I appreciate the time, thought, and energy you invested in this series, I gotta wonder if perhaps there is a greater cause that would have benefited from it.
illuminotme999 1 year ago
Trying preaching the gospel to the boy and let him know he is a sinner and broken Gods law! Then maybe he will get saved and want to be listening to hymns.
Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
preachtruth08 1 year ago
@preachtruth08 I'm saved, and I don't want to listen to/ sing MOST hymns. Most of them are unbiblical to begin with (ladened with false humility and such). Many of them have had their melodies lifted from secular songs. You guys are straining at gnats while swallowing camels...If you want to sing those old stale hymns, more power to you. But you aren't gonna keep kids from listening to the kind of music they like.

Mt 26:30 And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.
IF it was good for Jesus than any SAVED follower of Christ should have no problem!

It is bad.

JUDGE NOT BY APPEARENCE, JUDGE RIGHTEOUS.

boredfelipe 2 years ago
Surely these guys can't ALL be "The OC Supertones"?
The band from 2:50-3:15 are clearly copying the style of worldly bands, from the provocatively low-slung guitars to the angry and spaced-out facial expressions. No "joy of the Lord", or "worship in spirit and in truth" evident there. "Evangelism"? Wouldn't know - couldn't make out the words; they were totally subservient to and almost completely obscured by the music.
The message must be clear. See
Matt 5:13-16, 1 Cor 14:8,9
OneJohnFiveTwelve 2 years ago
Incidentally, ...no, not incidentally. Its important. I see the same with the faces of artists on their album covers. You know, that "fashionable" sullen look . Why do supposedly christian artists prefer to mimick the facial attitudes of their drug-taking, bed-hopping, Satan-serving unsaved counterparts? Why are they ashamed to show in their faces the serene joy of a life surrendered to the Lord?
Where is the "be ye separate" in this? Answers please? Please read 2 Corinthians 6:11-18

we came to do the robot,
hate and stress alleviation,
spiritual inspiration,
we want to elevate your mind to think on the most high,
we came to lift your spirits up so people that is why,
we educate and put this information onto tape,
and demonstrate the common grace of God
the final band oc supertones... thats the final verse from the exact video mentioned above.

3:53 sure there`s a big difference, it is spiritual. christian bands sing to God, way difference there, plus who can tell, by the way someone expreses in terms of clothing etc, cannot have a relatioship with God?, come on!

Kellybobby, please try and say something meaningful. Anyone can "stick their tongue out", but it takes a little thought and logic to actually make a point.

that's what i thought after watching the video above.
kellybobby 2 years ago
I said, "meaningful", Kellybobby.

4:25 the last band featured... supertones... quite possible one of the most God glorifying and Christ preaching bands i have ever heard... yes it's a fine line, we are called to be in the world but not of the world.
bbowen 2 years ago
bbowen you may be right if the words could be clearly heard, but why drown them out with such angry, stress-filled noise?
Why does a supposedly christian band have to deliberately try to copy both visually and musically the bands that promote ellicit sex, drugs and stanic lyrics?
As christians we have something in the Lord Jesus Christ that is so much better than all that.
OneJohnFiveTwelve 2 years ago
HAHA i just got your username. well done.
thanks for allowing the possibilty of lyrics that praise God the father about the work of Jesus and the presence of the Spirit,
I simply disagree, i think you can clearly hear the lyrics, (possibly not on a vcr capture, then uploaded to youtube and re compressed) :)
"angry and stress filled", again, i just disagree.
very passionate.
bbowen 2 years ago
i don't think they are deliberately copying those bands,,, most band promoting illicit sex have many scantly clad women. i saw none.
same for drugs, i actually thought they were showing a fun time dancing, all the way to the hard working janitor. and for the lyrics.. its been a while since i actually watched this video, (pastor above) and i found his remarks quite ironic considering the slice of video he presented... i need another comment for that.
bbowen 2 years ago
watch the video again, 4:08, pastor above states how lyrical content rarely actualy mentions god let alone Jesus, and he challenges us to check on that, so i did, google superfly, oc. supertones...

If so could I get an example ?

mm, i know christian rap that doesn't talk about anything else but Jesus. wassup with that?
sintje21 2 years ago
Christian Rap is a mixture of the world with Jesus Christ, which the Bible clearly tells not to do - 1 John 2:15, Ephesians 5:1-21, 1 Thess. 5:21-23, etc. We are supposed to use godly music to glorify God and leave the worldly music to the world.
Alleluia7 2 years ago
Rap is a style! If satanists had a monopoly on knitting, should christians not make sweaters? All rap consists of is quickly spoken poetry. Most of the secular rap is disgusting and about sinful things, making it ugly and offensive poetry Christian rap is quickly spoken poetry to musical meter about Godly things. If we avoided all the things the world did, christians would have nothing at all to do or work with.

popimpslab 2 years ago
@Alleluia7 Have you read the Book Of Adam and Eve...Cain's children tricked the holy descendants off of God's Holy Mountain through music and the children could not find their way back up to the mountian. You'll have to google the book because it was taken out of the cannon of the bible. Also read the Book of Enoch. It used to be in the bible also but was removed. The Ethiopic Bible has more books in the old testament than our whole King James bible..why?
popimpslab 2 years ago
@Alleluia7 The info you have bought to light is solid. I do not agree with all your points on African Music because I know the culture. I do understand how satan once named Lucifer was the head of music in heaven. This is where the source of corruption comes from. It is amazing to read how he taught one of Cain's children how to use music to get God's children off of the mountian. God Bless You Brother. I Love You!
popimpslab 2 years ago
@Alleluia7 I believe that you don't need music to serve God. I mean already most of it is corrupted and all we have to do is read the word and pray so I don't understand why music is such a stress into the church n into serving God. I never took christian rap seriously becuz I never believed it was any importance to God. Music is just an option to me its not neccessary to me n sadly people get too sensitive to that to the fact that you have to have music. I don't think that. The word is it.
NSHouston19 1 year ago
@Alleluia7 none of these verses you mention have anything to do with music whatsoever

MrBP116 1 year ago
@MrBP116 Don't be biblically ignorant. Read what Alleluia said to sintje21 above. As true followers of Jesus Christ, we are NOT to be of this world. Meaning that we are not suppose to mimic what non-believers do or say. When you study "Christian rap" or any other form of secular Christian music, it is clearly visible that the majority of these artists are in it for the MONEY. Artists like Jars of Clay, da T.R.U.T.H, Kirk Franklin, and Mary Mary are too focus on the world and not on God.
MrVigilant78 1 year ago
@MrVigilant78 Actually dude i am not bieng biblicly ignorant because i don't see any were in the bible were it says dat rap is wrong. The psalms is a whole book of raps cause the def. of rap is poetry put to music. how m i bieng of dis world if i was bieng like the world i would be cusin, talkin bout sex, gangbangin, and all dat other garbage. and how do u know there in it fo the money. And i am suppose to be in dis world interacting with these people in a way they understand the gospel.

@sintje21 Christian Rap is cursing GOD!!!
papo1957 1 year ago
@sintje21 actually i can vouch for alleuelua , im just a observer here, i remember a few weeks ago, my pastor, bishop calvin johnson, was preaching at a womens conference in L.A, cali, and strangely enough 3 ofthe biggest musicians for teh street artists were doing worship music there at the conference. One of them used to play the sax for Tonex, who is now a gay "christian" rapper, the other was a keyboard player for snoop dog, and the other i dont remember. but each had demons living in them.
the7ronin 1 year ago
@the7ronin well sure enough, this lady preacher gets up to talk about repentance and those same musicians behind her said, "hey lets get out of here.. we hate her kind of talk..." well the bishop was in that conference, and towards the end of the service he called those 3 musicians to the alter to pray for them. and the lord told em that there was a demon spirit of hip hop in them. and he casted them out. but one devil refused to let this one guy go. The Guy said he wanted this demon out...
the7ronin 1 year ago
@the7ronin well bishop commanded this spirit to tell him his name, he said his name was hip hop! and this demon came out of him, he saw him crawl on the ceiling!!!. He left the church building after that.... but thats what i heard from my pastor, about taht trip... that stuff is serious...
