davkrod : Have a think who has been listed. Its the team number one drivers. All teams have no. one and two drivers, its a team race as they all are but fair crack of the whip idiot!!! Ya think Brocky changed his own tyres and took the commy home with his own car trailer. Get back to ya xbox
I would have loved to see the bluebird turbo win in 83, it was such a rubbish car off the track, but fit a turbo and it was awesome. Jag XJS was one of the greatest achievements ever, it was the most unreliable and ugly car ever made. However, it was a loud, proud winner on the track and was the best. V8 supercrap needs to be axed and Group C brought back.
Doc, you'll find that the 1979 Bathurst was won by Brocky in the Torana A9X. He actually broke the lap record on the last lap, and won the race by 6 laps too.
bibs, of course you are right, the 1979 Bathurst was won by the A9X, not many people know that the car that won the next year (1980) was actually a 1979 VB with VC bolt ons, and it was also raced as the VH. But the actual car was a 1979 VB that won those races.
They started the VB as a rally car which Brock drove and won the rally, it was so good they just modified it for Bathurst and kept it updated just by bolting on newer panels.
@DrDance2323 They did not modify the rally car, it was a completely different car, the VH he won Bathurst in, was just that a VH, it was the same car he won Bathurst in, the following year. it was one of the only cars (As in the same chassis) to win Bathurst twice. Mark Scaife pulled off the same feet in later yrs.
I like the 70s cars better. They looked meaner. These cars dont have power bulges, or badass looks. Just boxy with spoilers. Long live the muscle car!
top video and sound track, i watched my 1st bathurst on uk tv in 1984 and remember remote tv cameras in the cars and the interviewers talking to the drivers. ground braking stuff in it's day. would like to see it for real life one day. one of the greatest races in the world !!
Great memories. I particularly remember Griceys win in '86 even it was overshadowed somewhat by Mike Burgmanns fatal accident on Conrod. A well deserved Bathurst win by a guy that was always thereabouts but not quite on top.
I remember that race won by Grice in the Chickadee Commodore and was really glad for him a top driver running as privateer up against the factory teams.
toyota do have a V8 and more then likely mitsubishi would of used the HEMI but thats not the point i dont get bored at todays V8's. i think its bloody awsome racing. also how come yo only show one driver, i do believe there was a co-driver who put in as much effort. in 83 brocks car retired early in the race and he drove harveys car to victory.
Who cares if their are only two cars manufactures left in supercar series. Toyota dont make a V8 and neither to Mitsubshi and if they did they don't have the fans (money) to make it far. Sure toyota are the biggest car company in Australia but in V8 supercar you need fans. Holden and Ford have dominated bathurst all these years and thats what aussie fans wanna see
How can you look anyone in the eye and say that it is not one of the best racing categories in the world. I think that Holden vs Ford is a great style of racing, i mean Europe have their raceing sport, America have theirs, and this is ours. I think, to be honest, it is a great success
A good watch for sure, though two thingss were irking. Apparently all races were won by one driver and any impression we may have had that co-drivers had anything to do with victories were wrong it seems. An insult to a lot of talented, dedicated people. 2. Their knowledge is a little light at times... featuring Brock's 05 car in 1983 which retired after 7 laps instead of the 25 Harvey car he drove to victory.

What??? No co-drivers??? Just because a driver crosses the line first, it doesn't mean he won by himself...

1980 car was a Commodore VC. Not VB
Thebibs 2 years ago
No mate, it was a VB with VC panels bolted on the front.
In fact the same shell ran as a VB with no rear spoiler, then as a VC, then the VH before the car was sold.
But it was always the VB shell.
The first Commodore that won bathurst was a VB 1979.

'll say it's good memories !! The good old days where there were more varieties of cars.
Nowdays it's just Ford & Holden, both the same power to weight, now it's all about the driver !
I havent watched Bathurst since the intro of
V8 Supercars.
Not only that, the dumb fuckwits put a chicane on conrod straight !
How dumb & dangerous is that ??
