I doubt that Chef Alexa is trans, if that is the case than it this not a self contained community. Regardless, her repeated use of the word as in do this tranny and do that tranny is dehumanizing.

This just further marginalizes an already maligned community, people with sky high rates of unemployment, homelessness, assault, rape, and murder. It sends the message that it's ok to think of transpeople as less than cispeople.

There was a time when "faggot" had a much more negative connotation than it does now. It took a long time for the gay community to reclaim the word "faggot" but "tranny" has not yet reached the same point.

I don't tell the gay community what slurs shouldn't offend them and I'd appreciate it if the gay community wouldn't tell me what slurs I shouldn't be offended by.

Ok guys, this was almost really cute and the setup was clever, but FOR THE LOVE OF DOG STOP CALLING HIM TRANNY. Like nails on a chalkboard. And I get that the sex/gender question was supposed to be a joke but in the context of the video it pretty much fell flat.

Of course you can have your own opinion about what is funny and what isn't. I do too. I personally don't use the word "tranny." But I don't think its being used in a negative way here. Like I said, I think it was making fun of people who use it in a negative way. FYI, I found out about this video from my trans friend who thought it was funny. You are entitled to your own opinion and so is everyone else. You can speak as ONE trans person, not all of them.

I used the recipe for the spaghetti and not balls, and they came out AMAZING. I served it at a dinner party which I hosted for some prestigious literary friends, and they were delighted by the scrumptious, savory dish. I would recommend a nice Cabernet Sauvignon to accompany this meal. It works very nicely, and it was all BEYOND, just beyond. Thank you Chef Alexa.
