One of his two legitimate losses. Jon Jones was not that well known of a fighter when this video was made. Most of the clips are actually older than the upload date as well. The video itself could be much older.

strikes to stay. They have protection; it still hurts, but hey, strikes

can detache because of a punch.

Figfters should learn to defend strikes and painfull holds, that are

effective in real life.

There is a reason why you don´t hit people on the back of your head, or groin or pokeing somebody in the eyes. No intelligent person would like lose his vision.

The evolution : in the beginning it was streetfighting. As good as no rules. Now there are a lot of rules and perhaps that's good for the sport aspect. But some people want to see some clothes again to make it more realistic instead of sweaty bodies and dresscode like in the swimmingpool. With clothes we would see much more chokes and throws but of course there could be situations where they'd hold on to eachother much longer and that could be boring for the crowd.

The first UFC's were setup ( not fixed, but the next closest thing ) for Royce to win.

With the exception of Shamrock, virtually no one had REAL grappling experience.

The promoters ( Art Davie and Rorion, Royce's brother ), knew how to hand pick the best fights for Royce.

very true,i would love to deny it but there is no way to at all.The first ufcs were meant to promote not the gracies but gracie jiu jitsu.See of course they had to hand pick who went cuz they needed to prove that gracie jiu jitsu was "better" than other styles mainly striking, so in reality it was jiu jitsu vs others.Even though yes the ufc was marketing for jiu jitsu they didnt pick fights so that royce could win, they picked the popular styles that competed against gracie jiu jitsu.

but i disagree, when Royce fought Remco Pardoel, Remco was the junior European JJ and Judo champion, dont think that was handpicked, nor was the Kimo fight. Royce was just that good for the time. Then along came Severn and Shamrock who knew how to make Gracie's guard null. Thats why Royce didnt want to fight, the fighters learned how to take him out. Imagine UFC 6, Tank vs. Royce!

@frasermack18 Royce tapped both Severn and Ken out. Ken got a draw in their 2nd fight (lay and pray, not fighting for a win but fighting just to get a draw.). It was Sakuraba who ended the Gracie dominance in MMA, submitting Renzo and Royler, beating Ryan and forcing Royce to throw in the towel.

Rickson has a pretty record of 400-0 or however many wins he wants to call it, even though Helio himself said it was a joke. If Rickson would have atleast fought Sakuraba he would have gained some validation, but instead just ran his mouth about how easily he could beat him, Fedor and Bas, but backed out of fighting them.

@OtakuGarou I haven't been a fan of Royce's since the steroid scandal against Saku, but i understand atleast why he held the subs. Watch UFC 1 his first two fights he let go when his opponent tapped and specialy in the Shamrock fight it almost bit him in the ass for doing so. Shamrock initially denied tapping, almost causing a restart. After that he made sure the ref stopped the fight before letting go.

the old UFC was really brutal. fights were crazy and some of the fighters didn't even wear gloves,just pure bare knuckles or handwraps. UFC today is good but it isn't as exciting as the old UFC with ken shamrock,the gracies,young randy couture and chuck liddell,don frye,tank abbott and a lot more.
