Looks awesome. It is always great to see someone with the same texture. I'm looking forward to having this length. I really liked the shorter video length, made it easier to watch :)
Thank you sooooo much for your videos. I have been searching youtube for the last year trying to find someone with my exact hair texture, who doesn't only do twist outs or other styles that take 30 mins the night before. I also like that you allow your natural hair texture to be shown without always weighing it down with all sorts of products and gels. You're beautiful and much appreciated. Coming from a Jamaican background, I don't see anything wrong in wearing your real natural hair.
@fblairmd66 I'm sorry for responding so late, I really appreciate your comment. LOL @ only doing styles that take 30 mins the night before, I wish I could do that but my texture does not allow that LOL. There is definitely nothing wrong with wearing and accepting our natural hair after all that is how God made us. Thanks for watching and I put some new videos up, maybe you'll like them also. Be blessed :0)
@NAR216 Sorry for this super late response, Thank you for watching and my pleasure to share. And I'm a huge Kassav fan so I had to add their music to my vid :0)
btw I understand you not having vids of your earlier styling, but maybe you can upload some pix... a montage or something? That would be very much appreciated too. Thanks Chery for sharing your process. I understand about not doing your hair every week; do you find you need water to comb out your hair too? Do you moisturize like crazy every day or 2?
Thanks for your encouragement Chery. Did you wear your hair in braid or twist extensions until it got long enough to style on its own? So from what you're saying your hair is 5 years natural then? I will keep in touch because you seem to be one of the few YT ladies who have successfully styled your 4C hair. I've seen a few others but the styles are not looking too 'styled' if you know what I mean... kinda sloppy. Products that work are key it seems. So you find shea butter is a key ingredient?
@musictoliveby08 Thats exactly what I did, braids and kinky twist. I've been natural for 7 years... Shea is good, I mix it with coconut oil along with whatever other oils I have in the house LOL. Detangling for me is a process, a long process LOL. I need water and I find the Nourishing Coconut Milk Anti-Breakage Serum by Organix is working for me for now. My hair does get pretty dry, I try to moisturize everyday but I'm not gonna lie, I don't keep up with it like I should. I will be better LOL.
... the only way I can keep the ends from breaking during detangling. I use a comb like the one Kimmay used in her detangling vid. I plan to get locks anyway as I don't see any 4C's that have my curl pattern (VERY curly like pen springs!) and are able to style their hair and it looks decent. shrug.. jmo.. I think some of us for whatever reason have brittle hair (maybe due to nutrition) and it just is too easy to break. Do you have vids of your hair @ 2-3 inches? Thanks! :-)
@musictoliveby08 Trust me I know how you feel, I get very frustrated with my hair sometimes. It tangles a little too much, like I could detangle a section & one minute later try to go through it again and its not detangled anymore, LOL. Like damn nit, didn't I just detangle you?!?! Unfortunately I don't have any pics or vid of my hair @ 2-3 inches, I didn't big chop, I grew a lot of the perm out & was braiding A LOT cause I went natural in 2003, & was afraid to show it cause there weren't a lot
@musictoliveby08 of ppl doin it, so I was kinda hidin my hair, it took me a while 2 accept & embrace my hair enough 2 wear it out. I will be doin a video soon on my updated routine & I'll talk about my frustrations, so check it out before you lock your hair. Also, braiding is the best way to stretch your hair. And protective styling of course (even though sometimes we want to look fly & cute and protective styles aren't always cute, LOL) I think your hair will be fine, u gotta find what works 4u
Hi Chery I love your hair styles and it's encouraging to see 4C hair that looks manageable. I find mine is so curly that the ends are impossible to keep straight enough to style. My hair is 7 months post relaxer and 2 months since I BC'd.
I am frustrated with trying to do anything decent with it as I cannot seem to stretch the ends enough to style any decent kind of way. At 4 inches long my hair shrinks to an inch to inch & a half. I'm about to just go ahead and lock it since I think that is ..
Still looking good girl...you're an inspiration!

what do you use as moisturizer? I been using the Shea and olive oil but my hair is still really dry!
tagrant0910 8 months ago
@tagrant0910 My main moisturizer is Shea mixed with oils & my trusty spray bottle filled with water. Water is # 1 to moisturize twist or braids.
