The imitated the alphas snake movements, ques hops, and kappas stepping perfectly. But when they tried to do us they looked a ridiculous because we don't have a signature step so they didn't know what to do. We are just us. We aren't trying to be like anybody.
I dont know what org you rep, but SIGMA has plenty of signature steps and traditions that is carried and known through campuses and the NPHC, From African to nutcracker, to being just Distinguished gentlemen on every walks of life, and how does giving a frat tribute contribute to a stereotype??
im a sigma (crossed Nov 5, 2008 at Southern University). however i've read some of the comments & i dont mean no disrepect but it's sad that grown men are getting upset over a probate. we didn't diss anybody at our probate or death march, but when the iotas came out 2 weeks later they dissed everybody & no one got upset because its all fun & games. one of my friends from high school was on the iota line & i was one of the first to congratulate him on joining the greek family. But your Sigma Shield does have quite a bit of similarities with the Alpha Shield (no disrespect).

Dunn of Kappa Chapter (Ohio State University) presented to the brotherhood our first Shield rendition (which we still use today.....with slight modifications) in 1911. 1911 comes a bit before 1914 (LOL). But your Sigma Shield does have quite a bit of similarities with the Alpha Shield (no disrespect).

What no one can deny is the originality of our marching!!! Everyone in the D-9 should know the history of stepping, its' African roots and how it relates to their specific organization - however, Deltas', AKAs', Zetas',Alphas',Sigmas',Iotas', and even Grooves' are heavy with the hand slappin', toe tappin' style of stepping.
