That's exactly what I'm doing when tutoring my little sister. She's in an accelerated Geometry class in 9th grade, but over the summer I have taught her pretty much any algebra and trigonometry she'd ever need, and we're doing Calculus an hour a day from Mon.-Thurs. now during the school year.
Actually, she wants to major in Math/Computer Science, so this year is Calculus, next year is programming, etc.
Sal, what is the new drawing tool you're using. Looking back in your videos I'd say you received it fairly recently and I can see a dramatic improvement in readability.
come on MORON, this stuff is so great, he is such a nice and smart person who has help so many people around the world. i'm passing physics thanks to him.
i dont have time to watch this particular video, but, please, you should put more videos about economy, finance and current affairs.they are really fantastic and very helpful, Thanks
Sal, I sent this to Queen Rania because like you she wants to bring education to all. If you watch her latest video she talks about bringing education to girls around the world. I sent her a comment to start a recycle system of getting old computers to give to the undeveloped world. ;) I hope she sends you an email.
Concerning the Knowledgemap: If you were to add other subjects, such as physics or whatever, I think it would make sense for it to become layered/3D. Each layer as a subject, interconnected to the topics that need to be understood beforehand. I think it could become one of the most condensed, flexible, and complete 'curriculums.' If you already this in mind, sorry. :x
I second this. Logic is fundamental for becoming a rational human being. I think it's the most important subject of all. Especially when you consider that one of the biggest problems in our society is misinformation and ignorance. The ability to reason about something on your own is the only way to escape "indoctrinated ignorance".
It's important to understand that there's a difference between reasoning and logic. Logic is simply a system of recognizing validity and fallacy of the conclusion of an argument.
Yes, of course you're right, there is a difference between logic and reasoning; logic is the means by which we can reason about something correctly. Thus logic is instrumental for rational reasoning, which is why I think it's so important.
Glad to see you cover so many subjects. Especially glad to see Statistics on here, as it's the next dreaded math subject I need to tackle and I like to watch your videos to better supplement the class. Your vids help me out greatly because your explanations are very clear. Thanks!
I wish youtube would feature one of your videos on their front page. Your subscriptions would skyrocket when people realize how great your videos are. All it takes is a little bit of exposure. I actually found out about you from my mom reading a little article about your youtube channel in my local newspaper.
Sal, you are excellent as I've said in many other videos. I have to say i'm excited you are reading about relativity, because we touched on it last week in my university physics class. It's not going to be tested on but when the teacher started talking about time being slowed down I really want to know more about it. You really should make a video on it. Keep up the great work! I'll continue to recommend you to my friends.
Sal there isn't anything I can say that the world hasn't said about you. I bring your name up as a topic of conversation to every student and teacher I meet. Thanks again. Move over Aristotle Sal is taking over.
Sal, man, I know you probably don't read through each of these comments, but I wanted to post anyway and tell you how thankful I am for you and your videos. I'm an engineering student in University, and your videos are perfect for studying, and for that extra bit of help if I just couldn't understand something we did in lecture. You've changed my life. I would not be where I am today if it were not for you. Sal, thank you. I owe you so very much.
Firstly, thanks for all your hard work, I'm a big fan of the Banking and Geithner videos. Have you considered offering assessment exams, and digitized written material?
I confess I cried a little bit at one point in this video.
Thanks to you and your family for sacrificing your time together for the benefit of society. This is such a beautiful thing - and it's only going to get better!
I can't believe the bookstores can bring themselves to rip off starving students. My calculus book was over $100. And they come out with a new one every year, so you can't buy one used. It's so wrong.
Will you ever teach programming? Do you know of any place that has free programming lessons? I want to learn the C/C++ or "objective C" language. Most classes I find are all online anyway. It would be nice if it was free on video.
Education should be free. Thank you for your generosity.
