That is so sad yet very educational. I learnt that don't be greedy and want more, instead, give to the poor and be happy with what you have because they don't have mush things to survive and we have everything. So its good to give up some stuff you have. And at the end, you will fell happier than you have ever felt, and they will fell happy to. Thanks allot! This video gave me allot to think about!!!
I remember watching your videos 3 years ago, and they're still amazing. I really like the frames and music in this one. I remember commenting all your videos with immature comments such as "I LOVE YOU/ YOU'RE HOT". Well I still love you and think you're hot.

You're a troll Meta and you clearly dont understand the video at all. He is a young boy who is struggling about what moral's and value's really mean. He was'nt happy at all when giving his stuff away. He did it cause he thought thats what he had to do. When his mother began to force him to take other kid's toys, he saw the chance to get back the tokken. But figured out he did'nt need it and knew it ment alot to the boy, it was'nt the boy's fault that his mother is crazy.
Thank you for sharing this video. The world needs less selfish people. There are things more important than "things itself". One day, all of us will learn that. For some the lesson come soon, for others. somethimes is too late.
I would have appreciated the ending more if the mother understood what he was trying to do at the end. It's just not as strong as it could be with the ending it has now, though the giving up of his Arc-Rider was nice, it just didn't have the impact on me that I would have gotten had the mother not been a b*** and placed so much value in "things".
Very sweet video. I loved every aspect of it, and I found myself rooting for the main character throughout the movie. He did a very good job acting. :)
It's difficult to ascertain the meaning of this video, but I have 3 possible explanations:
1. Christianity is often misconstrued and it occupies our lives to a point where we only see the parts of it we want to.
2. The Japanese have created multiple mechanisms to distract us from sharing communion with God. To do this they've produced media's such as Pokemon (copywrited) in order to steal our money and distract us.
3. Mainstream media gets us to buy products we dont want..
@hack9 It's about the different ways to be moral and what true morality might be. In the anime Kobhan comes close to sacrificing his friend for a prize. He then realises that the friendship is a prize in itself. Will realises being good for a prize hasn't made him happy. We watch him trying to work out how to be happy and learn what true morality is. He only comes to an understanding in the final scene.
The videos suggusts that the mother herself, who is the cause for his understanding of morality doesn't truely understand it herself.
when she says "good" she suggests that morality and good are synonymous.
Thats why I kind of omitted the theme of morality from my considderation.
But i do understand now, this suggsuts that the mother did not have a strong sense of morality herself, which supports the essential message (while not nessisarily clarifying it).
I am not quite sure what the moral of the story is. But I suddenly remember the time I gave up on Neopets. The joy of giving away all my neopoints. The reward wasn't just satisfaction, it is also having more time on important things like people and studies. However, after I gave it all up, I was slowly finding a new thing to get obsessed about. Sadly, I got obsessed with another game.
@Foilsdown Well in my opinion the moral of the story is, If you do good things, good things will happen to you in return, Wich is why the boy started donating his toys tot he other kids, so he could get the Golden Arc Rider.
@ksandom40 Now I've read a few more of the comments, I just wanted to clarify that I think the length is appropriate. It was just a barrier to watching it in the first place. :)
@cmyanmar13 I can't find the video I'm thinking of, but i think I subscribed to this channel after a collabouration with willhundredpercent. I might be wrong on that. If I am, he's another one worth checking out. :)
This is really the type of shows kids should watch and producers should make. Our society would be so much better if these kinds of morals were being put into our kids minds instead of all the other rubbish that our kids are being made to watch nowadays.
The story was interesting and good but not memorable (like Forrest Gump for example). The music score is for the most part very good, I just hate the vocal part of the last track.
As for the Christianity part although I'm an atheist I think you remained neutral sticking to the story and not passing a message.
I have to be honest. I was expecting some shitty work like 90% of the times someone says they made a short film. But it was excelent! Props, lighting, camera and acting I think were great. Everytime I see a child actor even in big screen movies I cringe a little because most of the time they suck or lack the skill. But you chose very well, not saying that he's the best ever but he surely outperfoms most.
Really good work with your camera / music / lighting. Looks very professional. Then again maybe you are a professional. You should do some longer stuff.
Also productionwise I felt that quite a few shots dragged on for too long and in general the film was a bit too slow paced, I don't think it needed to be 11 minutes long. However, it did have its moments (I thought in particular the reading scene was put together quite well).
Nice, I dunno the directors intention but I felt this level of hypocrisy from the pulpit on many a Sunday.....
Also kinda feel like this when conservative Christians freely speak of their dislike for public services that do nothing but help the poor. Seeing as how a major tenant of the Bible is helping those in need.
That was really good. I saw it as a criticism of religious parents pushing religion on their children because that is the way they were brought up. The mom wants her son to be a good little boy, but when he does what is arguably the most noble thing someone can do, she criticizes him. Nice work. (ps Hi Reddit!).
This was sweet, such a cute story and also great acting and cinematography given the limited locations. The dislikes could easily come from the theme- which is religious- which many people find distasteful from the get go- but you got yourself a devoted fan here that supports your work and i urge you to continue :-).
the mum was such a hypocritical bitch. She says at the start to ask god for help and guidance. God tells him to give to the less fortunate uhh whatever.
It feels like you went to write a nursery rhyme. On one hand you took the mother character and instead of forcing the obvious cliches, you chose an approach that favored an insufferable and oblivious nature. She preaches without thought. Perhaps it is that you have combined my distaste for religion, folly parenting, and pointless ideas of necessity. And in so doing brought forward my resentment. This is an antiquated approach to an uninteresting story. You are better story tellers than this.
I don't understand why the mom was so hypocritical. I don't think any reasonable parent would require that their child keep toys they don't want. Also, why did he suddenly feel compelled to give away the toys? The arc-rider, or object of desire, finally seen as unfulfilling after it was achieved; he doesn't seem very happy once he gets it, but he seems torn when he is confronted with having to give the arc-rider to the boy at the end. Do this mean that he does want it?
Why does he take pleasure in giving his toys away? It would seem as if he's obtaining his morals from a merely authoritarian point of view. That is, he derives his morals from authority figures: parents, god etc. The 'happy ending', as signified by the small smile, triumphant music, and lighting, would suggest that this sort of moral reasoning is good! Taking morals from authority blindly is not in itself good.
@MetaTheorist The final scene switches his priorities. From being kind to achieve a material reward, to giving up that reward to be kind. He discovers that morality for the sake of human connection is superior to morality in attempt to achieve a more material reward. He rejects those 'authoritarian' morals you mention, that encouraged morality for a purpose much further removed from "morality for its own sake".
@Spaceboy"Morality for the sake of human connection is superior to morality in an attempt to achieve a more material reward." If that's the moral, it seems to ring like the hackneyed "friendship conquers all", "altruism is the best moral choice always" cliches that are so often used. Not that those ideas are wrong, but they're so obviously true it seems like a waste of time to spend 11:00 minutes reiterating this idea. Some sort of moral ambiguity would have been nice. TL;DR. Too cheesy.
@MetaTheorist You gave a cliched, morally unambiguous description of the film then called that description morally unambiguous and cliched. "friendship conquers all", "altruism is the best moral choice always". No, that's not at all what the film is saying.
A more interesting story would have been how a boy manages to enjoy his hobby despite ridicule from peers and parents finally coming to terms with his desires despite the social pressures that persuade him not to indulge. The boy would learn to enjoy himself without asking for permission from others. In contrast to this, where the boy must ask for happiness, the boy in my story would learn to make his own happiness regardless of others.
@docelephant Yeah, the idea's not all that great, but usually, when you criticize, you're supposed to offer an alternative for argument's sake. There were a couple of areas that could have been explored: questioning religion (the power of prayer etc.), parents trying to buy their children's love, the social aspect of collectable, rare toy's. The story could have gone a step further by showing that being kind and giving material things away will not make you happy.
@MetaTheorist Once he completes his collection he's unfulfilled. It's just a shiny piece of plastic, after all. In the final scene he fights against that lingering desire to possess it, and realises there's no value in the token, but value in being kind.
@SpaceboyProductions I'd just like to add that God "the authoritarian figure" never advocated doing kind to gain materialistic value. The boy added "Golden arc rider" to the passage defeating the whole purpose of it, as that was the treasure he seeked.
@imdamanindahouse Yes, though in the film think that falls under encouraging morality for a purpose much further removed from "morality for its own sake". It's probably less moral if you do good only to get eternal life or a Golden Arc-Rider.
@SpaceboyProductions i don't mean to offend any roman catholic viewers, but this is what i believe seperates protestants and roman catholics "do good only to get eternal life". but i noticed he was probably roman catholic because of the picture of mary/ (again i have nothing against roman catholics. btw this was great nonetheless. are you gonna continue the 21 conspiracy?
