I was just a kid when I met Wayne. He liked my style and told me that if I ever wanted anything to do with Elvis just call his number and it would be done. Well being a big Elvis fan I called and he made reservations for me and friends maybe 15 times.
He has always been my idol not for what he did but for just the thought that he would do something like that just because he liked that I was a good person (teenager). So if Wayne ever sees this thank you for a beautiful life.
I love it! I 1st saw the film in 1970 at the Atlantic Drive-In, near Atlantic City. I ran the film also, at the RKO Trent Theatre in Trenton, NJ. In 1984, I was working as a projectionist, near Atlantic City (Towne 4 Theatre). Joe Nameth came in to see "The Natural". He was with a very pretty lady. After the show, I told him that I had run some of his films, over the years, like Norwood, CC & CO, & The Last Rebel. He rolled his eyes when I said the last Rebel, & laughed & shook my hand.
Hi. I am Wayne's great nephew and the family is really happy that you all fell the way you do about wayne and his music and it would be a honor if he could get in the hall of fame one day wayne is now a minster in miami. Thank you all for your great comments on his music
@TheJimmiejohnsonfan There's SO MANY that should be in "that" HALL OF FAME and they're not. It's a click ran by ROLLING STONE MAG. Donnie Elbert,,Chuck Willis,, Five Keys,,The Chords,,The Crows,,just o name a few.
this is exactly how he'd look showing up to our suburban home in the summer months of 1971 or 72', I'll post some of the pictures we have on here soon he wore the same outfit with the headband one night when my parents went out with Wayne and his Entourage, they looked like they were all "Feeling" pretty good.lol
I just turned 43 the other day and I have some fuzzy memories of this dude coming over to have his hair styled before doing some shows in Chicago, about 71 to 72' and he'd ride up on a chopper like in Easy Rider or a big ole Caddy, with the Elvis duds on, that were done like Evil Kenevil, I believe they made a movie about Wayne, called "The Blues Brothers" if you read this Wayne it's Pam's son Drew, the little blonde kid you would bring gifts to every visit back then, you were good to us.
Way ahead of everyone when it came to white soul. Great artist, turned preacher in his old age. Great entertainer. I'm lucky ti have seen him perform a couple of times
Goddamn! I could watch Ann-Margret dance all night long! Joe Willie Namath was pretty damn cool too. Wayne's voice was pretty much shot by this time, but he's still the coolest thing going. Long live the Great White Knight of Soul!!! Fuck, there's just so much right with this clip. Thanks for posting.
The shots at the end aren't of a woman being strangled...it cuts to after, when Ann-Margret and Joe are making love...
And that's Wayne's real hair...The headband was 'in' for both men and women when this was made...Lots of Indian motif going on then. I've seen him with it, in person. The stage was from his Vegas act...He worked there regularly after leaving Miami for a while...Ann saw him in Miami, she and Roger loved it...put him in this movie...
Joe Namath and Raquel Welch a-go-go (although her hair covers up her face the whole time, so you can't really tell it's her.) Wayne with bizarre, smooth white-blond hair - a wig? - held on by a headband. Black girls in matching sliver lame. Blinking psychedelic lights.
Mysterious elements, too. The solitary electric apostrophe that blinks on the stage background. The split-second intercut shots of a woman being strangled (?) at the very end...
Nice comments below. A version of this song is the opening song of The Blues Brothers Band. Many many of todays artists were inspired by this man. Check out the Jackie Gleason video, it is the real deal live.
chamders brothers did this song in 69,this opne is better though, love those old choppers befpore those ass hole in new york fuked up the real chopper nomad reality,.....no money equals imagination in buildin a real bike for the rewal man not those ughlyu prayin mantis lookin piece of shit new bikes, real old steel....1960s,,yes ive been drinkin but a good movie seen iut a 1000 times,,,long liv4e old choppssssss robbie
Saw this for the first time on the flight deck of my destroyer off the coast of Viet Nam, it became my favorite tune until I discovered Edgar Winters & White Trash verion ( posted by mrbobsir ) before I found it was an Otis Redding classic. The Otis video was just made UNAVAILABLE by the UTube police.....Still the most awsome song ever !!!! Last saw Joe Namath and the Jets play the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving day 1971. Thx for the upload

Saw him live at G-G-A-Go-Go in Lyons IL. in early 70's. Outstanding performer that tore the place apart. A night to remember! Can anyone post his Going Back To Miami ?? Thank you !
Ab-soul-utely addicted to this clip. Joe Namath + an oh-so-sexy Ann Margret shakin' away to the sounds of the unheralded Wayne Cochran, in 1970, what could be better?
I saw Wayne, about 34 yrs. ago at Beginnings, in Schaumburg Il,and 2 other places in the south burbs-He literally tore the 3 places apart! He was pure dynamite!
He is pure blue-eyed soul, and had the moves, the voice, the whole hip-shakin' attitude that is like Otis Redding, James Brown with white-blow-dried haired attitude.
Wayne Cochran, I had one of his albums that I bought in the early sixties at a Rexall Drugstore for about a buck. He had a huge boufant white hairdo, and intrigued I bought the album. My sister and I nearly wore it out. The Best. I would love to have it again. He was the male Janis Joplin, sang from his toes on up.

@TheJimmiejohnsonfan Wayne is a legend whether or not he gets in the Rock N Roll HOF. He is so much better than 90% of the "artists" in there now.
