caballe is quite wonderful here. but she is one of the great great singers of the 20th century! the only fault is that she has to be compared to beverly sills in this role and its hard for any singer to measure up to sills total command of this aria, each phrase of sill is not only vocal magic, but phrased with that incredible pathos that is entriely sills.
