  • If the right got their wish and controlled the entire country executive, legislative, judicial, the right themselves would not want to live in that scenario. that is the joke being played on the right by the right. If the right would win the presidency how much time do u think it would take before THEY start spending like crazy and and starting wars. listen to the candidates when they talk about Iran. they want more war which means more spending. Frauds. boycott Faux News sponsors now.

  • Government take over of health care is the biggest lie that the right pushes. What specifically has been taken over? Ask your conserviturd friends what specifically has been taken over because as i understand it employer based health insurance is still in place and will remain so. Hospitals will still be run for profit. So I ask again what has been taken over. The answer is nothing. FN spouts this lie because the right is willing to believe anything look at the Republican presidential race.

  • Shep Smith is an American hero in a den of turds. You are the man.

  • Carl Cameron trying to urge viewers to take the word of Fox News on face value is laughable. Shep was right people should do the work themselves

  • Shep is probably one of my favorite people on all of TV. I may disagree with him here and there, but i have never heard him say something that i found offensive or downright bullshit.

  • They never should have passed the bill, It is not going to contain health care costs that is the root of the issue. The whole thing alienated so many people.

  • I love Shep because he is one of the most FAIR and Balanced when it comes to reporting what REALLY happens.

  • Now I know why I like Shep.

  • Democrats need to grow some balls and just pass this shit. They are never gonna get any votes from any republican.

I'm sick of this shit because Republicans are just wasting time hoping he fails playing politics instead of doing anything helpful for the citizens.

  • that's exactly is the point. the most american citizen believe nearly every thing their goverment is saying to them. i live in central europe and we're just frighten of whats going on in the usa. shep smith is really brave to say somethng like that on amerivcan tv. we'll see how he'll ending up.

  • Shep, please. Leave Fox news. You belong to a news organization.

  • im totally blown away, speechless

  • wow..theyve already branded it for the tea partys lol. I can see the placards now.. "Dont use the nuclear option on my grandma" :p

  • I... um..

damn. Way to be Shep. Its really good to hear someone of fox advocating independent research.

  • Way to go Shep.

  • OMG something I actually agree with MM4A on!

    Shep is the man!

  • Everything is too important to be merely listening to Fox News for your information. All those gullible fools that voted for George Dumbass Bush... TWICE!... were getting their news from Fox News (AKA. The GOP Propaganda Service). That's how the world ended up in the mess it's in now.

Who got us into two wars and crashed the economy? Was it... Barack Obama? No. It was George W. Bush. Who was Bush's biggest supporter while he was busy fucking everything up? Fox News, that's who!

  • Absolutely everything is too important to get your information from one source no matter who they are.

    BUT

If you think George Bush is the sole reason the economy went bad you yourself don't follow your own word. (well maybe you watch msnbc, cnbc, nbc, and cnn.)

  • @03protegeES To be consise those stations were the only places you could find negative coverage on Bush or the Republicans.

  • "What bi-partisanship?"........LOL!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously people, I think Shep has a clause in his contract that states if he is fired for anything other than standard of conduct, he is to receive a $50 million payment! LOL!!! This guy always speaks the truth. You may not be on his side at all times, but he is having an honest discussion on the facts.

  • You can see Shep almost throw up a little bit in his mouth after that guy said to "or talk to us". LOL Shep knows exactly what BS goes on at faux. THANK YOU SHEP! You're doing the sheep that watch faux a true service.

I can almost hear the O'Reilly follow up, "you must trust faux and only faux. You cannot trust google, it is run by the liberal media elite!!! Be afraid, be very afraid.... we are fair and balanced, fair and balance, fair and balanced...."

  • Shep is the best sock puppet on Fox because he is just having a good time w/ all the bulshit. He knows what Murdoch and Ailes are up to. He sorta outs them in a way and he has a good sense of humour. He totally f-cks w/Glenn Beck too, makes fun of him to no end. He's laughing his way to the bank and doesn't seem mean spirited. Megyn on the other hand is one steamin' hot sexy bitch. OMG she is the sexiest Stepford wife ever!. You can smell the lust between her legs right through the Hi-Def LCD.

  • Well guess what?! The Baucus bill was BULLSHIT and HUGE surprise, Republicans DIDNT support it despite their overwhelming bipartisanship!

    reconciliation...reconciliation...reconciliation.......RECONCILIATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • If Shep Smith left Fox News, they would replace him a blond robot:Megyn Kelly.

  • Megyn Kelly is a hot robot.

  • Fox News.

    An oxymoron broadcasting to morons.

  • Fuck the republicans, we have the votes. They will never be bipartisan, fuck 'em.

  • They should all be bi-partisan, just like you.

  • You got to give Shep a high five ... he's been known to walk away from the reservation on occasion ... I wish MSNBC would make him an offer... imagine the possibilities ...

  • Shep Smith is the last voice of reason over at that network.

  • I agree Shep Smith is about the only person on fox news who is tolerable. I still disagree with a lot of what he says but at least he isn't a paranoid fear-mongering idiot.

  • his suggestion is on the money.

  • sheps the only one whos got his shit together over there at faux knows

  • WTF is Shep Smith doing on Fox News?!?!

He deserves much better than that.

  • lol i am surprised

  • Fox viewers have never even heard of research, let alone Google.

  • Honestly, Shep Smith is a good egg. Really starting to respect him, he's been doing this type of thing a good bit. A Fox host with a conscience, who'd have thunk it?

  • nah fam!, sheppard smith is the only "news anchor" @ fox.he's the sole person that keep it 100 on fox. i fux wit shep though!

  • Geez Fox, quit calling it a "government takeover." It is a "public OPTION," not a takeover. You can argue whether or not it will one day lead to a takeover, but that is not what is being proposed, so enough with the spin and fearmongering. Just the facts please.

  • its totally worth it

  • WOW FOX NEWS MUST BE TRYING TO REDEEM THEMSELVES,,,too bad tolittle too late

  • hard not to get mad at a news network that constantly shows its fair and balanced themev to be completely false. watch fox and see how often they show the healthcare plan in good light. that would be never because time after time they repeat right wing points no matter how ridiculous. but i can only hope that the people who actually beleive most of this mess on fox do not become a majority because when instead of legit questions you have to peddle fear and riddiculous lies we are in a sad time

  • What are you even talking about? Grow up and get a fucking life.

  • Someone on fox suggestion its viewers do real research and seek the truth? Man this dude got so chewed out over this.

  • Wow...Hes fired.

  • Someone on FOX who actually gives his viewers accurate information?!?!?! I have a feeling he may be fired soon for such misconduct.

  • In the last year, I've seen shep become more and more defiant and less uninformed. Remember the Russia/Georgia/ossetia conflict? He was pretty clueless about the real nature of the conflict, but now, I believe he's beginning to become more skeptical of the news media(that he's a part of).

  • he really began to turn on the torture issue & if you watch his reporting during Katrina he looses it with hannity.

  • I think Shep should move to CNN and cohost a show with Rick Sanchez.

  • Wow, you can really feel the friction underneath the friendly banter, especially as Cameron starts talking faster and louder to keep Shep from further questioning his GOP talking points. Shep failed to really press the matter with Cameron, but that he committed the Fox News sacrilege of encouraging viewers to do their own research on the liberal loon internet bastion that is Google, took some guts.

  • Wow, that was shockingly reasonable coming from somebody from fox news. But Shep has been reasonable in the past. My only qualm is that his guest was spreading more lies about the public option and he didn't correct him.

Its not perfect, but coming from Fox im impressed. Nice job Shep.

  • Shep is a brave man. The lone voice of facts on Fox Snooze. Well done, Shep.

THE ONLY VOICE OF TRUTH THAT FOX SNOOZE WATCHERS WILL EVER HEAR.

  • Where is Shep from? He seems southern.

  • Mississippi. He went to Ole Miss, I think.

  • He's from Mississippi

  • Shep has been on Fox for a long time. He has somehow figured out how to be as honest as possible without getting fired.

Remember when he lost his temper and started yelling at people who were defending torture? He even dropped the F bomb. I think the quote was " This is American, we do NOT fucking torture!" I thought his staunch anti-torture position and his language would have got him fired. But perhaps lacing it with patriotism kept him around. Or maybe he has dirt on Rupert. haha :)

  • I think he is fealing remorse and shame over the lies he is forced to present. It seems like he has these brief moment of clairity and honesty that shines through from time to time. Sad that he has not enough of a moral backbone to leave the propaganda machine....

  • iam surprised that Shepard Smith is still on Fox.

  • so, when we do it, thats fine. but if you do it, thats bad?

  • I fucking love Shep.

  • In the Bus years, the Republicans did what they did, just because they had the majority. Dems try to be bipartisan, but the Republicans are the ones who don't want to work together. So I say, the Dems should say, "FUCK YOU", to the Republicans, and do things the way they want.

  • yea the republicans need to see what it's like for majority to define bipartisanship as "vote for our majority agenda dammit"

on the other hand it would be one more way the Dems are jumping on the hypocrisy bandwagon

  • I agree with you. The hypocrisy would be blatant and Republicans would be the first to jump on the hypocrisy. But Dems are actually trying to makes positive changes, thinking about the country and it's citizens, and because of this, I'll deal with the hypocrisy.

My questions is: Is the Republican spin machine that good to change the minds Americans so effectively or are most Americans just that gullible?

  • 90% of the voters will always be D or R since everyone is constantly pissed off at cable news personalities and the leftover 10 percent of independents are the people who believed that Iraq caused 9/11

  • There is an "oh well" attitude in your post.

    Am I reading this right?

  • i think oh well is a good attitude to have... otherwise i become an ass hole

  • I see...well that's really sad if that's what you think.

No wonder nothing changes. No one wants it to change. It's always "oh well".

  • The 2-party system is there because of majoritarian election rules, and little else.

Google "Proportional Representation" to find out more.

  • The issue is that while the republican party has formed a very organized congressional body built on voting in lock-step as often as possible, the democratic party has been and continues to be a "big tent" party with a number of conflicting viewpoints. Our 60 votes in the senate run the gamut of views from nearly-socialistic (for real) to blue dog conservative. We just don't vote in lockstep well, and that's what the republicans prey on.

  • But I prefer this. For me the "big tent" is what Democracy is about. I like that Dems argue with each other and disagree with each other. I like that they stand back and access the situation rather than drop bombs, etc. And this is due in part to the broad view within the party.

What Republicans represents is the antithesis of Democracy. What they have is a sort of dictatorship with their ranks -- a group think that follows one path. This scares me more. There is a leader and the drones.

  • Republicans think in terms of what will make them win and they all conform to these ideas. In the "debate" over health care, all Republicans are using the same exact words. Dems tend to disagree. When I was a journalism major and did my internship with Anderson Cooper, the reporters who worked on the show all agreed that Dems are way more free with information than Republicans. Republicans think in terms of US vs. THEM -- a fundamentalist mentality which is no different from terrorists.

  • Amen.

  • Once in a blue moon, old Shep actually practices what he learned in journalism class.Too many more slip-ups and he will be looking for work.Fux sux.

  • Shep Smith rocks my world. How much longer do you think he'll last on Fox?

  • Shepard Smith is one of the very few respectable people on Fox News.

  • shep smith is the ONLY fair fox news anchor. im glad he's on fox.

  • Whats funny about this is that it wasnt even intentional . Shep just new that anything found on google would be more reliable than anything you heard on Fox.

  • Ahahaha...Very true.

  • Shep Smith is my new hero! He is definitely taking a stand-- however small it might be so he can keep his job-- in pointing out what's wrong with Fox. Thank you!

  • at least shepard smith is self-aware

  • Shep's a great guy.

  • bush's tax cuts = debt

    The neo-con can't run a budget.

  • 51 votes IS THE MAJORITY.

  • Cut taxes? Or safe lives?

    I think it's worth it.

  • google the answer to stupidity in the world.

  • Republicans still think they are the elected government ...lol

  • lol

  • That was excellent, Shep.

  • the gop will prevent what exactly? the dems. have 60(soon to be more) so what if the reps want to leave, at present they can't do shit

  • Walk towards the light, Shepard....MSNBC will accept you and your sexual preferences.

  • lmfao

  • Sheppard Smith seems to be the olny one a fox not drinking the coolaid

  • yeah ill have to agree, this is one of the only times where fox news makes sense... No spin, just real conversation.

  • Shep needs to leave and go to msnbc or cnn he would give ratings such a boost

  • You honestly believe faux news doesn't have a neocon, Jebus worshipping agenda? Wow..

  • Fox news needs to Start reporting The Truth!

  • "What bipartisanship?" Good point!

  • Fox news sucks but I have little problem with this guy, he is the closest they have to a "fair and balanced" reporter.

  • Aw, come on MM. That's not fair. He's encouraging people to get educated on their own political system. That's not the job of the news.

  • I was thinking "hey, these guys are level headed and actually balanced" until I heard government take over of healthcare (which is innacurate).

  • Karma's a bitch!

  • I love Shep Smith :)

He is one of the good talk show hosts, barely leaning towards one side but still sensible enough to report the news how it is.

  • "reconciliation" slam this down there throats

  • I swear Shep Smith is a secret liberal/progressive for Fox News, lately he's been doing stuff like this OVER and OVER again, in favor of Obama or liberal policies. Good job Shep. McCain was clearly lying during this, he said it "worried" him regarding a person who questioned the Constitutionality of [reconciliation] to which McCain made it seem like it had never been done. The person who brought this up talked about the Dems by passing the constitution (rewriting it) and that was McCains answer

  • shep smith is clearly a liberal. he makes no secrets about being one. are you just figuring that out? he's the only thing legit about faux news

  • I've known that for awhile.. it's just that usually Fox gets rid of their liberals *cough* Alan Combs *cough* But I have no problems with Shep

  • Gotta give Shep his props here.

    Google is a good start.

I will also recommend actually reading a book of three. That couldn't hurt either.

  • Yeah Bush did it to cut taxes, your right, he did it to cut taxes of those earning the most $ in this country, it's not like he was trying to cut taxes fro everyone

  • Googling "reconciliation" will get you a shep load of sites that have nothing to do with politics. We'll have public option with or without Shep and pals. Hopefully without. This would be the nail in the GOP coffin. RIP, Reaganites.

  • It is so cute when Republicans still think they are relevant.

  • Comment removed

  • If Obama and the Democrats succeed in passing this reform it will be remembered as a defining moment in the history of this country and Obama will be remembered as a great president. If they fail it will only just another addition to the list of failed attempts dating back to the days of Teddy Roosevelt and Obama will have a tough fight in 2012.

This is why the Republicans are fighting so hard.

  • Too little too late shep. There's no point in being a voice of reason on a network like foxnews. They spew hate n propaganda without reguard for consequences or the law. They don't care about America or the people. They are corporate shills blinding naive ppl into following corrupt politicians n agenda . It's funny how all conservatives r quick to dismiss the bush years as the "past"

  • shepherd smith: "WE DONT FUCKING TORTURE!!!"

    classic.

he needs to be careful before hannity finds out and calls him a baby killer or a traitor to our country.

  • He said "Do your own research." That's good advice Shep!

  • Shep Smith should really head for unbiased waters. He's a stand-up journalist, but he's working for a propaganda machine.

  • Wow, I am shocked! I'd actually have to say... Yea! agreed with shep on this one! maybe if continues to report the news with no biased, maybe he can get on a real news network?!

  • I can't believe Shep is still employed on Fox News. Easily the best guy there.

  • Shep's gonna get fired... But unlike all the other people working at Fox News, he could actually get work at a REAL News station after working there.

  • He has said some really dumb things in the past, but this makes me think slightly higher of him, and I don't care if he is pandering. =)

  • Shep is a stand-up guy , i'm surprised, he's on That channel , because fox shouldn't really be called a news channel , it's more of a propaganda voice for the Republican party

  • and fuck private insurance blow them up

  • Absolutely.

  • what an idiot "government take over of the public option"

You idiot that makes no sense. Public option IS a government program.

Plus who the fuck cares about the republicans. They cant shut down the senate, they dont have the power to, The democrats can do what ever they want because they have 60 seats.

I say RAM IT THROUGH. KISS MY ASS republicans

No compromise, No public option NO VOTE

  • The Bush administration has done this numerous times, and they have even resorted to 'sketchy' measures to pass legislation. Putting it off until 3 in the morning. This man is a fool. Oh the republicans will throw a hissy fit if the democrats use reconciliation. Good.

  • the problem is Democrats are a big party with a small party mentality.

Republicans are a small party wwith a big party mentality

But thankfully the progressives are finally revolting and stading up. I think the party needs a sstrong head like howard dean. Howard dean should have harry reid's job.

then we'd get some stuff done

  • Because with Google you'll find a CREDIBLE source :3

  • I think this is the first time I've ever heard a Talking Head encourage people to do their own research.

Thank you, Shepard Smith. And thank you, Baby Jesus.

  • Shep is way too sane and unbiased for Fox. He's probably gonna get the boot soon.

  • shep is a good man

  • haha nice.

  • Shep is the one guy on Fox with integrity.
