I'm quite surprised that this video is still up and that you haven't been sued for irresponsible slander. You should've considered a few points before posting this.
As a few people have already commented, you must have been going pretty fast to cause the airbags to deploy.
Infiniti was correct in telling you to file a claim with your insurance.... Had you done that it would've been fixed... The insurance company would've looked into whether or not there was a defect with the system.
let me get this straight... you hit a pothole so hard you damaged the rim and you want to know why the air bags went off. You're an idiot. The sensors work on shock you butt munch. and yes... BOTH air bags will go off.
If this pothole was large enough to damage your tire and rim you're lucky your curtain airbags didnt deploy as well. HOWEVER, what interests me is that BOTH airbags deployed. I thought Infiniti's "team of engineers" designed an occupant sensor? Sensors that detect if someone is in danger of being seriously harmed in the event of airbag deployment. Resulting in an airbag being switched 'off'. What if you had a niece or nephew in the pass. seat? Serious injury or decapitation. Dont buy Infiniti!
Wow bro this is very disappointing I really was looking into a new G37 IPL, but damn if this is how they treat there customers I might say to hell with that and go with my original want of an M3
Sorry to hear about that though, best of luck to you!
Crazy shit man! But the biggest mistake you made is not contacting a lawyer to get on Infiniti's ass. I can tell you from experience that once a lawyer gets involved, it is far from "drawn out". And there are TONS of lawyers out there that are happy to work on contingency. Car companies are more willing to settle than pay bigger legal fees to fight. They just don't care about you until you get serious. It sucks.
You must have hit a helluva pot hole since you damaged the wheel. I believe Infiniti/Nissan puts an air bag sensor on the radiator core support which could have triggered the air bags. HOWEVER, it should have NOT triggered the passenger side. Is there not a switch off on the passenger side when no one is in the car? Defiantly shady Infiniti engineering.
How is it a warranty claim when you obviously hit a large enough pothole to bend a rim and deploy an airbag? That is due to your negligence not Nissans...
You really should have sought a lawyer in this case and had it declared a lemon if the manufacturer refused to repair. It is unsafe to operate in its present condition with both air bags deployed. It is clearly a manufacturer defect, not an insurance claim. Infiniti should have been sued, you still can sue for monetary damages out of pocket you sustained for fixing the vehicle, i.e. loaner car and insurance deductible and possible car payments for the months affected.
Dude that sucks I had a new 05 Nissan Frontier SE Crew cab I had problems with my airbag sign going on all the time. I had the truck until Aug 07 every time I took it in they told me it was my fault because I put in an after market Radio The Dealer that I got the truck from had put it in for me. plus I had to replace the right wheel Barings because they didn’t have enough grease so that was making the right wheel jump like I was 4x4ing. Screw Nissan I traded it in for a 07 Mercedes c230sport
Should have gone to Infiniti of Kirkland, Wa. I got a G35 and they are great they take care of there own. One time they even offered free of charge to drop my car off for me in my home town (a 45min drive from the dealership). I sorry this happened to you.
At least you hit a pothole!! Mine in my Ford Mustang went off for no reason whatsoever. Literally was driving down the road with my kids in the car at 10pm, doing probably 30 miles an hour and BOOM the passengers side impact bag goes off. I got the same exact response from Ford, they wouldnt do anything at all. I got slammed by deductables, ins increase, and a carfax report that states I was in a single car crash that deployed airbags?? Like I hit a telephone pole or something.

Ask the fuckin provincial government for repairs. We pay such a high amount of taxes n they cant bother 2 fix potholes on the roads. Its a shame.
I live in Canada n the road conditions aren't any better, maybe worse because of the snow. I drive into potholes every 10 minutes on city roads and this is after I avoid a number of them.
@rforracing If you don't mind me asking do you live on ON? Here in Southern ON it's outrageous the amount of potholes we get during the winter months. Yes the weather is somewhat to blame but the poor quality materials and lazy overpaid workers sure as hell don't justify the insane amounts of money were taxed.
Has this happened to anyone else? The G37 coupe is at the top of my list of new cars to buy this summer, but if the airbags deploy by hitting a pothole and Infiniti doesn't cover this obvious defect under warranty, I'll definitely NOT be buying a G37 coupe.
Hiks........Well ACTUALLY airbags are sensitive about vibration.......when u have traffic jam,,,,and u angry,so u punch the horn pad,,,the airbag may deploy....
Wow, Unbelievable. Clearly a problem with the air bag sensor not being able to correctly detect an impact. I was seriously considering laying down 40k for one of these cars but now you have given me reason for pause. It is hard to believe a high end retailer like infiniti would not be prompt to handle this issue. Thanks for posting your video. 10k in damages for just hitting a pothole albeit large enough to damage your tire is quite significant.
@MrYeton23 lol what? this is your reason for you not to lay out "40k" which we all know you have lying around. It's like not buying a certain brand of tv because one person 20 states away found a defect because of their fault get real man and go fuck yourself with your shitty car.
Buddy you are so damn stupid how can you get into a pothole that big?? i dont wanna see you driving in the street, you need glassed dude.. why dont you show the damage tire... I bet its all fcked up.. you shuold be happy cuz that mean you have a pretty safe car..
Why don't you just pay to have it fixed? Ive had an airbag go off in my Hyundai sonata a few years back when I taped a parked car. No damage. Airbags are just overly sensitive.
Now I have the Convertible version of this G37 in red and I love it! Ive tons of pot holes (I live in Quebec) and it's all O.K.
wow this is Rare this never happend before and to the G35suck guy fuck yourself bitch you know nothing about nissan nor infiniti they are not faulty nor the axles your just a dumb unhappy fuck the diferential is to exagerated and it spins alot n cause faster tire wear its fixable dumb fuck go drive a fucking ford n killyourself..
@jaymum23 I asked my Lexus dealer in Tacoma WA (next to Seattle, called LEXUS of FIFE) on how to add tranny fluid tomy 06 GS430. They said that they will ask Service Department and will give a a call back. IT HAS BEEN 6 !!! MONTHS since I called- NO ONE EVER CALLED ME BACK. EVER!!! And that was after I spent $2,455 on parts from same dealership to fix damage on my Lexus baby... So not every daeler in the world is good. Some are just plain bad!
@sweetjew Wow that's the first bad service I've heard from a Lexus dealership, though I'm not surprised. There are bound to be a few bad eggs out there.
That really sucks man. Should've gone with BMW from the beginning. I say once they fix it (if they do) sell it and get yourself an e92 335i. good luck!
well it really doesnt take much to trigger off an airbag, from what i know, i live in san antonio, its pothole city down here, i drive a honda accord, i was going about 30mph, i went over a pretty deep pothole, and my side airbag came out of the passanger seat, nobody was in the passanger seat too lol, and the impact was on my side.
That was wrong and I was thinking getting this car or a Dodge Challenger RT. Man that was so wrong and I agree I would more likely never buy a car from them either.
So, what are you suppose to do, keep replacing air bags every time you hit a pot-hole? That's totally not a solution. I definitely won't be buying an Infinity or Nissan. It is not your fault the air bags went off and an engineering / design issue. They should have paid.
I ended up filing insurance on my car. Paid the deductible and let my local Infiniti dealer fix it for me. The Nissan/Infiniti Corporation said the airbags didnt malfunction. I fought with Infiniti corporate for 40+ days before I got an answer from them without any loaner vehicle provided. It was a nightmare. @ramairf1 my parents got the G37 and we go to infiniti of fort myers in florida and stuff kept breaking right after they were changing oil and they were gonna charge us 1700 dollars to fix their mess......but my dad just yeled at them and made them fix it and give us a loaner......they had to fix all the belts, the wipers, the rack and pinion, and the brake rotors bc they were bent or something....
My dealer charged $9600 in damage and labor costs. They only replaced a tire, rim, 2 airbags, dashboard, steering wheel cover, and a wiring harness (wiring harness got burned due to airbags deploying). Pursuing legal action will only drag this on further. I'd rather just never buy from Nissan/Infiniti again and hope people know the truth about how the company operates and treats their customers
My dealership has been good to me. I broke things on my g37 that was my fault and they fixed and gave me loaners with no charge. I messed up my passenger seat and they replaced it for free. I cracked a piece near the dash and it was replaced for free. I even had their loaners for extra days while the car was already done and it was no big deal for them.I just told them I was too busy. They even picked up my car at my home because I didn't want to drive. Guess it's all mixed then for everyone.
Herb Chambers Infiniti. I've dealt with the one in Boston and the newer dealership in Westboro. They have been kind to me.
You think about getting the s4? I have the g37 and it's a nice car. If you do your research you will hear horror stories on almost every make and model car out there. But it's still your choice on what vehicle you want. But deciding a car on someone else's bad experience..hmmm. Go drive it., see the dealership reviews to see if they are up to par. Then decide from there.
I've read good things about the Herb Chambers dealers, and most Infiniti dealers in New England for that matter. Most Infiniti dealers in the NY metro area are pretty horrid, and the BMW ones aren't any better.
They should have fixed this for you. The cost of parts and labor for your car would be nothing for them since its all in the company. Nissan and Infiniti use to be the only Japanese cars I liked, but after viewing this I will never buy one. They have lost more money out of a sale to me then it would have cost to fix your car, and I am sure I am not the only one.
i would be mad too. however, the only thing that seems strange to me is the passenger side deploying. the airbags go off based on deceleration, not damage done to the car. so if you hit hard enough to damage a tire and rim, you're lucky thats all you damaged, and i'm not too surprised that the airbag was triggered. still seems strange that the passenger side went off. maybe you had something in the seat? anyway, sorry, and hope your insurance covers it
im sorry but the fact you would allow them not to fix your car is messed. what was the answer when you asked should the airbags deploy when going over a pot hole/? please people stop letting people win in these kinda cases. theres noway any judge would allow this to happen. i hope you at least got a lawyer and didnt just ask the company to pay. and sorry when you said you lost how did you lose like court or what let me know please?
So, you hit the pothole so hard you damaged your rim and tire? Yet you want to blame Infinity. I think they're right, go through your insurance company.
The 03-07 G35 and 350z have alignment problems that can't be fixed with a simple alignment. (Tires wear out after 10k due to cupping and feathering).
The 05-7 Rev-Up motor on the G35 and 350z burns oil. Infiniti and Nissan are still denying it. Give em a call and their response is, "We never heard of such a thing". LOL
I can't believe this happened to you. I have had no problems with any of my Infiniti's. I can not believe the treatment you are receiving from them! They have always taken care of me anytime I have had any issues... Infiniti, what the heck is wrong with you!
Hes vehicle is probably equipped with a sensor in the passenger seat set for a set amount of weight (I'm guessing about 50 lbs?) where it disables the pass. airbag if there isn't 50lbs in the seat. I believe this is to protect small children (a guess).
You'll deal with the same garbage if you get a BMW 335. Hell, BMW can't even procure a decent fuel pump for that car after it's been in service since 2007. Brand new 2009 owners are still having HPFP (high pressure fuel pump) failures. So yeah, any car is going to have issues. It isn't just Infiniti.
Wow?! Sorry to hear this has happened to you. I have a 2009 G37 sedan and my Infiniti Dealer has been nothing but Amazing. I hate to see someone truly switching sides for a BMW. I have never heard of an incident such as this one, if it was common then something could have been done, but seeing the fact your problem is unique there is no purpose in recommending other potential buyer to BMW.
Are you kidding!!! I seen tons of Benz and a couple of bmw (mini-cooper) dead in the middle of the highway. Just the other morning this guy couldn't take his brand new benz suv out of the parking here in manhattan ny because the brakes were stuck. He end up towing the suv on a flatbed. You will always get more for your money buying an infinity over bmw or benz. The are tons of real bad stories with bmw or benz. google it!
Sorry to hear that you've been treated like that. I really love the G37 coupe and have been thinking about buying one, but I just hear too much negative stuff about Infiniti customer service.
that sucks bro. I wish Infinit would take care of this problem, now it looks bad because you have a pissed off customer who is posting videos and putting this info on the G forum, which doesn't look good for the company or propestive buyers. Infinit, your assed out of several customers who want to buy a G37. I own a 08 G37S, so far so good. Wake up Infiniti!
Well take it to a stealership if you havent taken it yet. Well infiniti customer affairs was good to me when about a engine defect. 1) Contact your insurance if they force you to pay than something is wrong because it was a defect. 2) I would contact a good lawyer to get this fixed.
@angeljintx I took it to the dealership. they wont cover it under warranty. They actually wanted me to pay $120 to find out why the airbags deployed. They wouldnt even give me a loaner car. Consumer afffiars wont give me an answer till mid january. I just cannot beleive how poor consumer affairs has treated me.
I bought a used BMW that is out of warranty. On a cold icy day I managed to curb my rear driverside rim. I took it to the dealership and they only charged me for parts and gave a loaner car for free.
Must be a manufacturer defect and you got the lucky car! I agree on the BMW part, they gave me a new car after i had issues with the turbos on the old one...
wow man sorry to hear that your turbos had issues. At least BMW corporate treated with respect and gave you another car. Infiniti has a lot to learn from them.
Sorry to hear of this but thanks for the heads up on customer service. Was the dealer of any help or did you have to go directly to corporate? I am in the market and was considering a G37 - good customer service, especially when paying this kind of money, is important to me. Please post an update if and when they decide to help you with this issue.
The service department at my dealership has been just as bad as corporate. I asked for a loaner car while going through the ordeal and was denied. The guys at the service dept also tell me to file insurance and beleive strongly that corporate will not do anything. I cant believe I spent so much money on this car and consumer affairs treats thier customers this poorly.

Ya man, they made a recall for the G35s about the airbags, I think it went out to the G37s too.
atami210 1 year ago
Strange, here in Europe, the customer service of Infiniti is great and BMW is awful. :/
SChiefS6 1 year ago
Why don't you just pay to have it fixed? Ive had an airbag go off in my Hyundai sonata a few years back when I taped a parked car. No damage. Airbags are just overly sensitive.
Now I have the Convertible version of this G37 in red and I love it! Ive tons of pot holes (I live in Quebec) and it's all O.K.
EliteSlayer542 1 year ago
wow this is Rare this never happend before and to the G35suck guy fuck yourself bitch you know nothing about nissan nor infiniti they are not faulty nor the axles your just a dumb unhappy fuck the diferential is to exagerated and it spins alot n cause faster tire wear its fixable dumb fuck go drive a fucking ford n killyourself..

it mustve been a huge pothole.
if its that big you should learn to avoid it.
i ALWAYS avoid even the smallest pothole when i drive.

damn....that really sucks. get a lexus. they have the best service in the industry.
pjezuma1 1 year ago
I agree. You will sacrifice sportiness, but Lexus service on the whole is far better than Infiniti, BMW and all the rest.
jaymum23 1 year ago
@jaymum23 I asked my Lexus dealer in Tacoma WA (next to Seattle, called LEXUS of FIFE) on how to add tranny fluid tomy 06 GS430. They said that they will ask Service Department and will give a a call back. IT HAS BEEN 6 !!! MONTHS since I called- NO ONE EVER CALLED ME BACK. EVER!!! And that was after I spent $2,455 on parts from same dealership to fix damage on my Lexus baby... So not every daeler in the world is good. Some are just plain bad!
sweetjew 1 year ago
@sweetjew Wow that's the first bad service I've heard from a Lexus dealership, though I'm not surprised. There are bound to be a few bad eggs out there.
jaymum23 1 year ago
That really sucks man. Should've gone with BMW from the beginning. I say once they fix it (if they do) sell it and get yourself an e92 335i. good luck!

thats pretty bad luck, given me second thoughts on infiniti now... I was lookin at the G35 too

I can not believe that I was thinking to get a G37S sedan, now I think may be an Audi S4
Enson1991 2 years ago
@Enson1991 Want a sedan get the Audi
Want the coupe or convertible get Infiniti
seauryakumar 1 year ago
well it really doesnt take much to trigger off an airbag, from what i know, i live in san antonio, its pothole city down here, i drive a honda accord, i was going about 30mph, i went over a pretty deep pothole, and my side airbag came out of the passanger seat, nobody was in the passanger seat too lol, and the impact was on my side.
lukepaxt91 2 years ago
why do they have to "get back" to you? surely it's a no brainer or course they should fix your car
i hope you get everything sorted out
rchan0 2 years ago
That was wrong and I was thinking getting this car or a Dodge Challenger RT. Man that was so wrong and I agree I would more likely never buy a car from them either.
lovelyhearts15 2 years ago
omg, i feel so bad! did the airbags scare you or hurt you when they went off?
royalrobert 2 years ago
So, what are you suppose to do, keep replacing air bags every time you hit a pot-hole? That's totally not a solution. I definitely won't be buying an Infinity or Nissan. It is not your fault the air bags went off and an engineering / design issue. They should have paid.

the chevy dealership here in pittsburgh sucks.
MrRichierich1990 2 years ago
I ended up filing insurance on my car. Paid the deductible and let my local Infiniti dealer fix it for me. The Nissan/Infiniti Corporation said the airbags didnt malfunction. I fought with Infiniti corporate for 40+ days before I got an answer from them without any loaner vehicle provided. It was a nightmare. After they claimed to not be a fault I could no longer bear making payments on a new car without driving it, without any loaner, so I finally caved in and filed insurance.
ramairf1 2 years ago
That sucks man. Which dealership were you dealing with?
Echostarwb 2 years ago
passport infiniti in alexandria, va.
ramairf1 2 years ago
@ramairf1 my parents got the G37 and we go to infiniti of fort myers in florida and stuff kept breaking right after they were changing oil and they were gonna charge us 1700 dollars to fix their mess......but my dad just yeled at them and made them fix it and give us a loaner......they had to fix all the belts, the wipers, the rack and pinion, and the brake rotors bc they were bent or something....
G35lover03 1 year ago
@ramairf1 do they have a recall on the airbag defect?
G35lover03 1 year ago
My dealer charged $9600 in damage and labor costs. They only replaced a tire, rim, 2 airbags, dashboard, steering wheel cover, and a wiring harness (wiring harness got burned due to airbags deploying). Pursuing legal action will only drag this on further. I'd rather just never buy from Nissan/Infiniti again and hope people know the truth about how the company operates and treats their customers
ramairf1 2 years ago 3
My dealership has been good to me. I broke things on my g37 that was my fault and they fixed and gave me loaners with no charge. I messed up my passenger seat and they replaced it for free. I cracked a piece near the dash and it was replaced for free. I even had their loaners for extra days while the car was already done and it was no big deal for them.I just told them I was too busy. They even picked up my car at my home because I didn't want to drive. Guess it's all mixed then for everyone.

@Echostarwb Which dealership is your's ?
Enson1991 2 years ago
Herb Chambers Infiniti. I've dealt with the one in Boston and the newer dealership in Westboro. They have been kind to me.
You think about getting the s4? I have the g37 and it's a nice car. If you do your research you will hear horror stories on almost every make and model car out there. But it's still your choice on what vehicle you want. But deciding a car on someone else's bad experience..hmmm. Go drive it., see the dealership reviews to see if they are up to par. Then decide from there.
Echostarwb 2 years ago
I've read good things about the Herb Chambers dealers, and most Infiniti dealers in New England for that matter. Most Infiniti dealers in the NY metro area are pretty horrid, and the BMW ones aren't any better.
jaymum23 1 year ago
They should have fixed this for you. The cost of parts and labor for your car would be nothing for them since its all in the company. Nissan and Infiniti use to be the only Japanese cars I liked, but after viewing this I will never buy one. They have lost more money out of a sale to me then it would have cost to fix your car, and I am sure I am not the only one.
obscene678 2 years ago
i would be mad too. however, the only thing that seems strange to me is the passenger side deploying. the airbags go off based on deceleration, not damage done to the car. so if you hit hard enough to damage a tire and rim, you're lucky thats all you damaged, and i'm not too surprised that the airbag was triggered. still seems strange that the passenger side went off. maybe you had something in the seat? anyway, sorry, and hope your insurance covers it
fullerjames12901 2 years ago
I would be so mad u pay that kind of money for a car and they wont fix it that is bullshit
chathamshawn 2 years ago
Its over. I lost. infiniti wont be fixing my car =(. Last time i will ever buy a nissan or infiniti car.
ramairf1 2 years ago
@ramairf1
thats a shame, I would contact my local news stations to get the story out to everyone
acurabmw 2 years ago
im sorry but the fact you would allow them not to fix your car is messed. what was the answer when you asked should the airbags deploy when going over a pot hole/? please people stop letting people win in these kinda cases. theres noway any judge would allow this to happen. i hope you at least got a lawyer and didnt just ask the company to pay. and sorry when you said you lost how did you lose like court or what let me know please?
adetuyi420 2 years ago
So, you hit the pothole so hard you damaged your rim and tire? Yet you want to blame Infinity. I think they're right, go through your insurance company.
jrazzel 2 years ago
Nissan do make crappy cars.
LOL
03-07 G35 window motor is prone to FAILURE.
Door lock mechanics dies out.
Creeking and popping everywhere.
This is suppose to be a LUXURY...
g35suck 2 years ago
I can't believe this happened to you. I have had no problems with any of my Infiniti's. I can not believe the treatment you are receiving from them! They have always taken care of me anytime I have had any issues... Infiniti, what the heck is wrong with you!

"At the time of the incident "..... You sounded like an investigator there. Sorry about this man.

By the way passenger airbags can go off passenger or not...
laughsatposers 2 years ago
@laughsatposers
Hes vehicle is probably equipped with a sensor in the passenger seat set for a set amount of weight (I'm guessing about 50 lbs?) where it disables the pass. airbag if there isn't 50lbs in the seat. I believe this is to protect small children (a guess).

That's what you get for buying a POS...
laughsatposers 2 years ago
You'll deal with the same garbage if you get a BMW 335. Hell, BMW can't even procure a decent fuel pump for that car after it's been in service since 2007. Brand new 2009 owners are still having HPFP (high pressure fuel pump) failures. So yeah, any car is going to have issues. It isn't just Infiniti.
crazy4honda 2 years ago
fuck it...sue them and get yourself an R35.
angelshooter07 2 years ago
thats what you get for buying an infiniti
th3ha1og0d 2 years ago
Wow?! Sorry to hear this has happened to you. I have a 2009 G37 sedan and my Infiniti Dealer has been nothing but Amazing. I hate to see someone truly switching sides for a BMW. I have never heard of an incident such as this one, if it was common then something could have been done, but seeing the fact your problem is unique there is no purpose in recommending other potential buyer to BMW.

kwesisq 2 years ago
Are you kidding!!! I seen tons of Benz and a couple of bmw (mini-cooper) dead in the middle of the highway. Just the other morning this guy couldn't take his brand new benz suv out of the parking here in manhattan ny because the brakes were stuck. He end up towing the suv on a flatbed. You will always get more for your money buying an infinity over bmw or benz. The are tons of real bad stories with bmw or benz. google it!

Sorry to hear that you've been treated like that. I really love the G37 coupe and have been thinking about buying one, but I just hear too much negative stuff about Infiniti customer service.
venckus 2 years ago
that sucks bro. Wake up Infiniti!
raul0434 2 years ago
Well take it to a stealership if you havent taken it yet. Well infiniti customer affairs was good to me when about a engine defect. 1) Contact your insurance if they force you to pay than something is wrong because it was a defect. 2) I would contact a good lawyer to get this fixed.
angeljintx 2 years ago
@angeljintx I took it to the dealership. they wont cover it under warranty. They actually wanted me to pay $120 to find out why the airbags deployed. They wouldnt even give me a loaner car. Consumer afffiars wont give me an answer till mid january. I just cannot beleive how poor consumer affairs has treated me.
ramairf1 2 years ago
I bought a used BMW that is out of warranty. On a cold icy day I managed to curb my rear driverside rim. I took it to the dealership and they only charged me for parts and gave a loaner car for free.

Must be a manufacturer defect and you got the lucky car! I agree on the BMW part, they gave me a new car after i had issues with the turbos on the old one...
luanatic 2 years ago
wow man sorry to hear that your turbos had issues. At least BMW corporate treated with respect and gave you another car. Infiniti has a lot to learn from them.
ramairf1 2 years ago
Sorry to hear of this but thanks for the heads up on customer service. Was the dealer of any help or did you have to go directly to corporate? I am in the market and was considering a G37 - good customer service, especially when paying this kind of money, is important to me. Please post an update if and when they decide to help you with this issue.
GegBrown 2 years ago
@GegBrown
The service department at my dealership has been just as bad as corporate. I asked for a loaner car while going through the ordeal and was denied. The guys at the service dept also tell me to file insurance and beleive strongly that corporate will not do anything. I cant believe I spent so much money on this car and consumer affairs treats thier customers this poorly.

hmmm not buyin an infiniti... don't want airbags to explode in my face everytime i hit a pothole.
