I was thinking Lucario is the most overrated pokemon, but Charizard beats it hands-down. I really don't see what the big deal over it is since it's movepool & stats aren't anything special with sub-par defenses & mediocre attack. Also it's a pain in the ass to use when I'm playing FR/LG, since its weak to the first 2 gyms. The other fire-type starters are better, though.

Hoenn: I did some research and played pokemon emerald version and Mudkip is the best.

Sinnoh: if you are more concerned with the elite four then piplup but If its the gym leaders than turtwig

Unova: Oshawott for beginners and Snivy for Amateurs.
