Also, he has (rightfully) satirised Christianity without the same level of sensitivity therefore he is either a coward or a hypocrite.

Try political correctness in any Middle East or any Asian country you will find that they don't even know the meaning of the word and its not because racism doesn't exits its just that they deal with it differently usually in the form of punishment or death. Political Correctness is the idea that anytime someone is offended by language then we should always blame whoever said it. Sometimes the offender really is an asshole who should be condemned, but sometimes the offendee is a thin skinned crybaby who really should get over it.

I feel with Lee's comedy theres an underlying point that is important but the delivery of such a point if it were to be made directly wouldnt be funny so he distorts it in a sort of poetic manner so that the underlying point still remains intact but what he has literally said may not necessarily be what he believes. @ActivatedOne other than insulting me, I didn't see see any kind of sense except that Christians are more than Muslims.. and about the point that people leave Islam, of course some will. based on the huge fuss I would've left Islam too if I didn't use my head. @scabbybatman yes i agree with what you say about libel and slander not being ok under UK law ,and that is quite right. and the same goes for what you said about protest. so yes definately progress of a kind. though i do think we need to address an imbalance. as i said i think we're pretty much on the same page

@scabbybatman what about the hate speech laws which specifically referers to "insulting" groups? what a group finds "insulting" is subjective and i do believe that the pendulum has swung too far when there is a law against that. chistopher hitchens has some very interesting views on this subject and I would urge you to watch his speech on free speech. i do think we are actually on pretty much the same page when it comes to most aspects of this issue

using racist language is socially unacceptable to most people in the USA but they still have freedom of speech protected under the first amendment and this includes the right to say racist things. therefore it is incorrect to say that making laws to censor people is what changed the attitudes. this whole routine is based the a false premise that it is the law prohibiting free speech that changed racist attitiudes.

@g2thaz You said the routine was based on the premise that laws had changed opinion. Now you say your point was that laws were not mentioned. Flawed logic? I used to get angry about proposed 'anti-hate'. Then i realised that i actually didn't care, since im not interested in making racist remarks.
Many factors contribute to changing attitudes of what is acceptable. There is no doubt that laws are often one of those factors. US racist groups are now on the rise since Obamas election.

@Schizopantheist Ok far kop about my original statement. However I still strongly believe that the law has gone too far and that many people’s attitudes are a too pedantic and you may do again if it stops you from making a legitimate criticism, which the law in its present form certainly can do
and if laws are unjust they do not contribute to harmony. it just gives people like the BNP legitimate ammunition, which is hardly helpful. the general trend in the US is still racism declining.
