I voted for George Clinton in the 1990's election for President, I had to quit drinking that stuff everyday. Happy birthday Funkateer! Thank you BlackSciFi for this notorious piece!!!!
This is a good video about the funk. Thank you for posting this. The funk is here and will always be here. The day is coming when i turn on my radio and i will get funked up like i use to back in the day. Its coming.
My Funk Super Hero. Protector of the Pleasure Principle. The Energizer Funk Dawg. The Stankiest. HAPPY BORNDAY GEORGE, Thank you for Keepin it on the Mother Funkin One.
James Brown was great----but George Clinton took funk to a whole other level----Clinton was the most creative force in modern music for about 15 years beginning in 1970. Unbelievable stuff that still holds up extremely well today.
@brothaman101 I peeped your channel and where's the funk..?? You have"Old school rappers" and Drake on there and they have nothing to do with funk except maybe a "sample" of it....Damn I thought you knew something about funk music but I stand corrected...you don't know shit...
@brothaman101 I don't give a fuc if he's explaining the history of your music and by the way ...He's only explaining the history of P-funk which is not the whole story of funk you idiot.......The motherfucker is annoying and takes away from the rest of the vid..By the way , my channel tells you all you need to know about my knowledge of funk....thus ended the lesson...
FunkyDevil909, in the late 70's people began to try to follow it as one when they'd catch on to the lyrics and where George and P/Funk was going with it; then George did an interview in a magazine where he asked the people not to do that because there is only one God.
George absolutely did sing. George did all of the lead vocals on One Nation Under a Groove and shared lead vocals on Knee Deep with Garry Shider. At the end of Knee Deep was Phillipe Wynne, not Scotty from the Whispers. George did sing lead on Atomic Dog, although Garry sings it mostly on tour. Parliament and Funkadelic usually shared vocals between George, Fuzzy Haskins, Calvin Simon, Grady Thomas, Ray Davis and Garry. Glen Goins also sang lead vocals. Know your P-Funk history, Skinhitta.
That guy in costume kinda looks and sounds like Ving Rhaymes. Good point that brotha in the hat brought up....George didn't sing!! As a kid we all thought that was him singin Knee Deep and Atomic Dog. Turns out it was Scotty from The Whispers on Knee Deep(from the middle of the song on).
i love how no one has given this a thumbs down. true testament to how amazing funk is. have been a fan of funk music from when i was 15 or so, i'm 22 now, and i think i'll always love funk. other musical genres just don't come near. especially this top quality stuff from Funkadelic. inspired so many. also, new documentary never seen before good stuff
6:26 "James (Brown) was basely a musician with this very sort of traditional capitalist point of view... George was like a kin...was more like a...an anarchist"
he almost said King. George is an anarcho-King of funk then
