  • James Brown was great----but George Clinton took funk to a whole other level----Clinton was the most creative force in modern music for about 15 years beginning in 1970. Unbelievable stuff that still holds up extremely well today.

  • @brothaman101 I peeped your channel and where's the funk..?? You have"Old school rappers" and Drake on there and they have nothing to do with funk except maybe a "sample" of it....Damn I thought you knew something about funk music but I stand corrected...you don't know shit...

  • Some people call me the "FUNK"... How deep can you go..."i'm as happy as a monkey with a peanut machine..."

  • excellent!

'the funk belongs to us all' indeed.

is that Lenny Henry narating the intro? XD

  • Put a glide in your stride and a dip in your hip, and come take a ride on the mothership. This is the best music ever, SERIOUSLY

  • FunkyDevil909, in the late 70's people began to try to follow it as one when they'd catch on to the lyrics and where George and P/Funk was going with it; then George did an interview in a magazine where he asked the people not to do that because there is only one God.

  • what is the song aroud 5:40

  • Funkadelia via Dr. Funkenstein the one, the only George Clinton

  • funk is revolution

    dig

  • George absolutely did sing. George did all of the lead vocals on One Nation Under a Groove and shared lead vocals on Knee Deep with Garry Shider. At the end of Knee Deep was Phillipe Wynne, not Scotty from the Whispers. George did sing lead on Atomic Dog, although Garry sings it mostly on tour. Parliament and Funkadelic usually shared vocals between George, Fuzzy Haskins, Calvin Simon, Grady Thomas, Ray Davis and Garry. Glen Goins also sang lead vocals. Know your P-Funk history, Skinhitta.

  • That guy in costume kinda looks and sounds like Ving Rhaymes. Good point that brotha in the hat brought up....George didn't sing!! As a kid we all thought that was him singin Knee Deep and Atomic Dog. Turns out it was Scotty from The Whispers on Knee Deep(from the middle of the song on).

  • nose must be red, sir. or long

  • As I have said before, "nothing like it"!

  • i love how no one has given this a thumbs down. true testament to how amazing funk is. have been a fan of funk music from when i was 15 or so, i'm 22 now, and i think i'll always love funk. other musical genres just don't come near. especially this top quality stuff from Funkadelic. inspired so many. also, new documentary never seen before good stuff

  • I've been a PFunk fan since I was 8 years old in 1969.

    I'll be 49 real soon!

    Ain't no stopping me now!

  • 6:26 "James (Brown) was basely a musician with this very sort of traditional capitalist point of view... George was like a kin...was more like a...an anarchist"

he almost said King. George is an anarcho-King of funk then

  • funk shud be a religion. i'd follow it.

  • @FunkyDevil909 Easy; Listen to the 1st Funkadelic cd (Funkadelic, 1970)

then listen to Parliament's 1st Cd, Osmium (1970),

then you'll get hooked, FOR SURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @FunkyDevil909 you said it brother me too.

  • @FunkyDevil909

    It is. Keep up!

  • @FunkyDevil909 The only way I could become religious. I consider myself to be pretty rational, but "in funk we trust".

To me, funk is not just music, it's a way of life.

  • Agreed. It walks with you every step you take. It's part of one's very being once it gets inside you. There are a certain amount of people who literally "have the funk" :-)

  • yaw need more clinton in yo funk

  • FONK

  • ON THE ONE! I AND I!

  • what's Flashlight mean again?

  • Flashlight is a "noun" but George used it as a verb which means "Dance"

  • lmfao at 6:40 "put yall hands together god damn

  • Bootsy simplified it down to the foundation of the extremes:

George Clinton was wild, loose, and carefree. Whereas, James Brown was details, tight, and methodical.

  • what year was this made??this is some real greay stuff im 22 and i've been into p-funk since i was about 11..much respect 2 all the funk soilders and r.i.p. 2 all the funk soilders who have passed on

    ontha1.

  • This is from a UK program, called the South Bank Show, broadcast on ITV in the UK in 1992. The host is Lenny Henry a comedian who asked the original host, Melvyn Bragg, if he could host a show about his favourite music, funk.
