im a 14 year old philipino girl with cancer. in my ASS. nothing touches my soul like a face melting minglewood!! Brent years were the shit lets get those RIP doses back in full swing this summer BOOOYAH
This so sweet! Thanks for posting. I wish one of you clever Heads would mash this up with this (on youtube): Cross-eyed Opossum Catches Public's Gaze. That would spiff.
@spacemeddle I LOVE Phil's high harmonies from the early days. There is nothing like hearing a '68 Other One with Phil screaming out "COMIN', COMIN', COMING AROUND!"
Man, one time i was curious about the dead, id never heard them before, i got one of my dads old tapes and heard "The Golden Road (To Unlimited Devotion)" and i was immediately hooked. Thats just the power the Grateful Dead have.
@therealCanablisS for some people it's instant. i didn't like them initially however either, i just kept listening until finally it clicked. now they're my favorite band by a longshot
Great song! Anthem Of The Sun is my favorite album. I've borrowed a bunch of bootlegs from my dad... ALL from '68 or '69. sadly, no Born Cross-Eyed, but other '60s Dead classics. If there's actually a way of putting cassettes on a computer, I'll put up full concerts.
The album version of this was issued as a 45 in the UK with Dark star on the flip....what were they thinking?.....dont think it got one play on the radio
Actually, Dark Star was the A-side, and the version of Born Cross Eyed is a different mix from what's on either the CD or the remixed LP edition. I don't know how it compares to the original LP mix, which supposedly is the same as the CD, but I've heard some people say it's not.
im 13 but the grateful dead is definetly the best band that ever existed no one else is as good as them anthem is definetly my favorite album love the dead rip jerry
Seriously, I'm 19. Mother was a flower child from SF. Once you grip The Dead, you realize there is no one like them. Deadheads never fall, they just keep tripping.
I'm 20 and Grateful Dead are my favourite band. They have been for a long time and I have a feeling that no other band will overtake them from the top spot for me!
I'm13 and I can't enough of the Dead!! My absoloute favorite band. My mother was a hippie and took me to the last show in Michigan before Jerry died. I was still in the womb.
Thanks for the post. What a great recording! That Drum track is how you play Drums. Dam Billy was on that night. The more I got into the recording the more I felt a trip coming on, there was some awesome energy there.
Anthem of the Sun is my all time favorite album by ANYONE . I listen to it on a regular basis and have done so since I first bought it in 1970. Especially New Potato all the way thru the alligator jam. Spectacular. My 1st show was closing of the Fillmore west. Lucky me .
They can play...but they cannnot sing.
