I love this movie, but John is the only charecter I'm not crazy about-he's so naive, and clueless despite everything going on around him, notice after this scene as he tucks Max in bed and Esther appears, how she cringes in place, that would definitely indicate to me that she's seriously disturbed, and I'm not even a parent, of course Kate's therapist is pretty dumb and gullible, being fooled by a child shouldn't be this easy, still a good movie though.
