So you have a lot of snakes. Just wondering, is there any natural disaster common where you live? I can't help but wonder what would happen if a tornado or a flood came your way. How in the world would you keep ahold of all those snakes? I wouldn't want to live next door at that time. : ) But do you have a plan in place for such an occurence? I imagine it would be a whole lot of snakes introduced in a part of the world they don't belong.
hey al do u own any eastern massasaugas? i live in north central ohio and 2 buddies of mine were out drinking and driving which isnt smart and they found a pregnant female sunning on a gravel road around a state public marshland hunting/wildlife area..she was jet black with darkish tan brown diamond patterns on her..around the marsh area where she was found is1 of the only few areas in the state they exsist, also the marsh area is in what we call the muck, which is1000s of acres of jet black soil
hey viper, amazing video as usual, just a question, ive had my boa for 2 years now, she was only a baby when i had her, but ive always kept feeding her every 2 weeks, of course the mice are a little bit bigger than b4, but is that ok? i dont want to be starving her or anything but i dont want to over feed her either
i have got an snake last year. it was poisouned by a insectspray. it didnt moved, it just layed arround and it even started to lay on its back. it just tooked it into a warm dark place, gave it water with a pipette (baby corn snake it was) every day. it drank itself. and after a week it started to move again. bevore it hung like dead.i am sure ur one will make it, it looks dizzy, but i guess it can make it. i hope so for it!
I was just wondering if you knew of any educational websites out there for venomous animals? I know there are alot that have false information and all the books that I have been looking at are from the 60's any info would help thanks!
Sorry to hear about #3 KC, i had a problem a while back when a female carpet suddenly died. I hope that it wasn't OPMV as that could be quite damaging to your collection if it got loose. with luck it was only a self envenomation. Still i love watching your vids and always look forward to your new ones. You have heaps more snakes then we are allowed in Australia.
That's very strange that it's not immune to its own venom! Nature is odd, it seems. I am sorry that number 3 didn't make it :-(. It was very interesting seeing the other cobras barrel roll though! Thanks for the 2 part video.
Wow, the spinning. That must be kind of nerve-wrecking. =/
I first thought it might be the beginning of IBD, becasue of the eyes and the behaviour, but I read some and it doesn't seem like it. I guess you'd know if it was IBD or not since you've probably dealt with it before at some point. I hope the little guy makes it though. I would force feed it some water. Anyway thanks for the video Al, as always. =)
@lordabomity I think I gave it'self a big dose of it's own venom because of that little spot of blood that appeared on it's lower lip. Or when I pushed the pinky down it blocked off the blood flow to it's brain too long. It lived for 4-5 days and looked l wacked out of it....
@viperkeeper Oh ok, I'm sorry to hear that. It can't always go as planned. Some hatchlings as you know just aren't made do for this life, so you lose some. But the happiness of watching other grow strong makes it better. =) Cheers
i have the same green spray bottle:)...and i just got an false water cobra...even if hes poisonious i steal get him out and hes soooooooooo douscile he great and hes 4 foot long :)
Is the mortality rate among baby snakes high? I would imagine that nature would settle the issue with a higher number of births per pregnancy, to guarantee that at least some survive. It's a curious thing about whether one snake or another decides to be very aggressive and eat ravenously, gaining strength quickly and getting to a size able to fend off predators. Seems like some just don't make it.
@pseudonaje It only represents a true hazard when working with spitters...and I am sure Al would be intelligent enough to put a plaster over an open wound whilst working with them.....
@pseudonaje i would say the chances of the venom being injected through the fangs and out onto it, would be worry some. but if venom was used it would be in a bite and therefore a little more bothersome than worrying about a cut
Hey Al, why dont U use pinky press?
