  • Many people watch your videos, why not post your link to EZHUH.COM get paid for the people watch and make videos.

  • Work on your writing skills, Take history, science, math, statistics, civics & learn about diverse cultures.. Journalists need to be able to understand and cover almost any subject and in any community...so almost any class you take would be helpful.

  • i am 16, and want to become a broadcast journalist

what subjects should i be doing?

  • You can start as a producer in a small tv market, meaning a city with a smaller population. That's where you gain your experience. Then you move up to bigger cities or markets from there. good luck

  • I want to be a news producer!

Does this mean I move up the rank to be a producer or what?

I can't wait to start working hard for it.

  • This was a fantastic video. I have often thought about a career in broadcast journalism. I love news! I love to write and I love public speaking. However, my background is in business. I've thought about going back to school to get a masters in Journalism. Is there an age where it's just too late? I've been out of college for 7 years now.

  • @AmbaArmah no, it's never too late. If you have the drive, go for it.

  • Interested in a career in Journalism? We can offer you the chance to train as a Journalist in the busy office of Brighton's daily newspaper, The Argus. We teach an NCTJ accredited course, and will provide you with the work experience you need to get going in the world of journalism. For more information, google 'Brighton Journalist Works'!

  • I want to know one thing: How can some people get their first gig in brodcast journalism w/o the proper education and others gotta have a Phd. just to get a internship? "I" will not be part of a buddy-buddy system just to get an opportunity. I am working on my B.S. now and plan to bust my but learning all I can learn and hopefully that'll be enough to get started in the industry if it's not then I guess its not meant to be.

  • @cdwalker

An education is important. You need to know your stuff. But in any occupation, making connections with people is important. Will it get you the job without qualifications--no. But will it help you get a job if you are qualified, yes.

To think otherwise is being naive.

  • @RandallYip - I certainly do appreciate your response. I know that what you said is true 100% but down here in the South things tend to work a little differently. I was always told, and I do believe that education is important and is the key to future opportunities, but you'll be surprised at the number of people that got their jobs simply by knowing somebody, or know somebody, that know somebody, that knows somebody, that knows somebody else...... Thank you kindly for responding.

  • thank you so so so so much. I am really looking into this kind of career. i am in high school and wasnt sure on what i should be getting into. this really helped thanks!

  • Scott Tong is the man.

  • i've been doing a tremendous amount of research on universities and the career i want to do. i have to say, this major does look interesting. thanks for the video!

  • Thanks, Meredith OD. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • Great video! Thank you so much for the insight! As an aspiring Broadcast Journalist doing research into what the job will entail, I greatly appreciate this information! It was well done, too.

  • Thanks for this video. It was helpful.

  • I want to become a news reader so can anyone tell me what major should I pick at uni?

  • A news reader? What do you mean? Do you mean a news anchor?

  • the news reader I mean the person who presents the news on TV.

  • yea their called 'news anchors', or 'Broadcast journalists'... So if Ahmadmashallah wants to be a news anchor, then he needs to major in Broadcast Journalism.

  • thanks you know pretty much about journalism are a journalist?

I come from a non-english speaking background and i've been practicing eng for the past 5 years. and next year im heading towards uni, so do you think i'll experience more difficulties at uni and finding the job I want? by the way I live in Australia.

thanks. you really are helping me:)

  • No you shouldnt have that many problems, however, I do not know how the universities are in Australia lol But you shouldnt...And in Journalism You'd be perfect, because you can learn a lot more english before you graduate, and you know your native language, so you'd be bilingual, which is always a plus for journalism!

I'm not a journalist yet, but I'm in school majoring in Journalism though lol

  • wow cool, I wish my school had that course.

    you're lucky!

  • Lucky? Every university should have that course...Damn...well if you want to be a journalist, then go to a university that has that as a major! Do not waste your money on school if they do not have the major for the career that you want at that school!

  • wow i needed a source for my paper on broadcast journalism and this is better than all the rest of them combined! lol

  • Exactly what I plan on doing with my life. Looks like a lot of work but I'm already doing some work experience while at college. Great video

  • I'm getting there :) Watch out for me.

  • Great video! I'm into journalism and I'd like to write for a newspaper but a career in TV behind the scenes really interests me. Thanks for posting.

  • haha at the end with the lady dancing when the guy was describing the picture was ha;arious. I love this job and am going to research it more. Thanks!
