Issue: Mac OS X is an open platform, iOS is not. Simply for the fact that the iPad cannot run any application a developer designs for it without being jailbroken, it is a bad OS

Jobs may find that Flash sucks, but that doesn't mean he has any right to ban developers from porting it to the iPad or ban users from running it on the iPad. He should have zero control over how people use their product.

Actually, you can't run OS-X 10.6 on the A4 ARM processor. It's designed only for Intel architecture. Due to Apple's acquisition of PA SEMI, I'm assuming that the iPad is just a hotrod display of Apples new processor and as the develop it to a multicore low-power SoC powerhouse, they might return the Mac line back to the days of guarded hardware (PPC, remember?) just in time for, oh, I dunno, OS-x11? LOL So if you ask me, the iPad is their way of developing the A4 / ARM technology. ;)

I think iPhone OS was the right choice, but I really wish they programmed in more desktop style functionality, like installing apps without the store, file management, a free environment to make your own folders and such, and the ability to run multiple apps at once, etc.

Honestly though, it's nice keeping related files of unrelated file types in one place, like a folder for a website, holding all the images, code, and other files. It's also nice to not have to keep unrelated files that have the same format in one place. For example, I might not want an audio clip of someone's voice for use in a keynote presentation to be right there next to all my iPod stuff.

Yes, but if your audio files, pictures, and other categories of docs are made available in a Media Browser type of database (like iMovie, iTunes, iPhoto, etc in Mac OS X), you get a "better than the old file system" experience and the ability to sort and find and browse those file collections in a specialized browser (like iTunes, iPhoto, etc).

I welcome this change. I don't want to deal with files any more than file fragments or magnetic spots on my HD or high and low voltages. Abstract!

Actually Windows 7 was built for Multi-touch and small devices.

Both Flash and Silverlight are also optimized for "Multi-Touch". You've been able to create multi-touch apps on Silverlight for a year now...

The only thing that's been missing is the hardware, but there will be a whole slew of hardware choices coming out this year based on Win 7, Linux, & Android.

This is not "new" and the iPad will be just one of many devices available (HP Slate, Notion Ink, Dell, MSI, Archos, etc.)

I think Apple looked at certain aspects of what existed when they made the iphone, and then listened to what people wanted. Look at the HTC touch. Almost everything the iphone is, except w/ WM's horrible UI.

If Apple didn't make iphone, perhaps pre or nexus wouldn't exist, but products would have still evolved on their own to be what you see today.

Actually I though it was very funny, and quite astute. The characters in the video really reflect the state of the 2 OS'. Touch OS is really sexy and flaunts its beauty (it's a slag), but of course there's less going on in the brains than with the full Mac OS.
