The subfamily and genera of the Elapidae family that live in the ocean (seas snakes), are the most toxic, drop-for-drop, to almost all animals. This is because they eat fish, which are very fast-moving. They need a venom that will immobilize them instantly.
Oxyuranus microlepidotus. the Inland Taipan, is the most toxin neurotoxic snake (mg for mg of venom) on LAND, as in terrestrial snakes.
@MudDobber247 BUT, arguing the "most toxic" is pointless, as toxicity is measured on rodents in LD50 scales, which don't translate equally to humans. Take Care,
when you open a venomous snake smouth an apply pressure to the glands at the back of the head with the fangs extended in a forwar dposition it will cause them to spit or spray the venom ;)
I have a cotton that will shoot venom, and a cane that will.
I have also seen a 4 foot Eastern Cottonmouth hit the screan guard of a cage hard enough to squirt venom into the eyes of the keeper who was tending it.
I want to learn to properly use a snake hook.

OK I'm pretty sure copperheads don't shoot their venom. That's all I'm gonna say on this.....

If the snakes head is pinned and the fangs are out it might squirt a little venom but it will not shoot it at people like a spittin cobra.

We handle these kinds of poisonous snakes in our church every service. Ratlers to. We dance holding them or place them on our heads
