  • Que gratos recuerdos de mi infancia. Gracias por este aporte.

  • oh my god..OH MY GODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD! (Shriek!) I totally remember this! Remember loving the animation or claymation? Anybody who thinks this is disturbing wasn't alive when this originally came out and that's really sad. I feel sorry for ya.

  • Wore out my recorded-off-TV VHS of this bit which, as a three-year-old, I called, "Blamoo." Thank you for posting!

  • I saw this when child and though not my favorite sketch I liked it and didn't freaked me out or anything... Is it strange?

  • i love the synth sounds!!!

  • Wow I just watched an orange sing opera..in an episide that's probably older than me..first part was definetly disturbing but verg educational...lmao

  • Sesame Strret is amazing! I would never have thought as a kid back then that I was hearing and learning an amazing classical Piece- L' Amour by Maria Callas!!

  • papapappapapppaaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!

  • lol at 1:12 sounds like she said flavor flave!!! XD

  • this transports me directly back to my childhood, but with a strange veneer of 70's dust over it

  • my face when my mum made me watch this: Σ(゚Д゚)

  • Is this where they get the term Clockwork Orange??

  • One of the best Sesame Street clips!

  • lol

  • bravo odd and disturbing orange! *whisper* this is wierd...

  • Great Grandma Orange.

  • Brilliant and trippy.

  • 249 people were born after 1980.

  • ahahhhh cx my brother heard it while i was playing it, and he just gived me a weird look. xD

btw my name is Carmen oO

  • The oboist at 0:55 has a terrible time keeping his/her breath steady.

  • Oh man do I miss Old Sesame Street

  • The rubber band mouth is what disturbs me.

  • High IN acid, or high ON acid? LOL.

  • This is.....................AWESOME

  • CUTE

  • sweet ♥

  • I miss the simplicity of children's programming. It's too high tech and commercial now.

  • I remember

  • Ааа! Мой моск! В мандаринку вселился Сотона! 0_о

  • This is weird!!!! And very disturbing!!!!!!!

  • Sesame street was introduction to all kinds of music. To classical to r & b.

  • This is ever so much better than Katherine Jenkins version! :-)

  • This reminds me of seasons ago with Sesame Street, but I like the melody and more

  • what farmers market did he get that from?

  • This used to scare me as a kid ..... mostly when her face would fly off ...... Still love classic SS though

  • Love the weird little synthesizer sounds :D

  • Vocals sucked but it was cute =)

  • I forgot about this until just now.

  • This is AWESOME!

  • I wish stuff for kids could be as clever as this these days

  • la pauvre carmen orange son jus va couler à la fin

  • la pauvre carmen orange ton jus va couler à la fin

  • J´adore this animation! ITs awesome, its a gate to the world of dreams, of magic a way to do real our fantasies..ITs for me a fantasy made real..What a talent of the men who did this fantastic stuff!!!!

  • wtf.

  • Yeah I thought creepy to when I was little. Maybe it was the eyelashes. It is a good animation!!

  • @luckymom95 It was definately the eyelashes

  • oh god, I remember this from my child hood

  • i loved this as a kid, I think this is where my love of music and melody began.

  • LOl sounds like Atari 2600 sound effects.

  • This is the first piece of an opera I ever heard and I remebered being mesmerized by it. Ever since Carmen became my very favourite opera of all. Thanks Sesame Street!

  • wow, i totally remember watching this :).

  • O is for outrageously opulent operatic orange!

  • Love the Clockwork Orange style music.

  • hahahahahahaha

  • This made want to become an opera singer!

  • Extra!

  • @GDM34000 this is a masterpiece!

  • I absolutely love this Sesame Classic - but as I recall, I was a little creeped out by this , but to this day - nearly 20 years later, I'm not entirely certain why.

  • @proadmin1 I was freaked out too. I think it had something to do with the voice messing up. Not sure. I have an ear for music and maybe my brain inturperated the wrong note as some sort of thing I couldn't fix but I knew it was wrong and it kept doing it, similar to guilt or something; "that's wrong, don't do that", "but i want to watch", "it happened again, quit watching", "i didn't do it, the thing on tv is", "maybe, but YOU are watching it", "i want to have fun..." mommy! :(

  • @proadmin1 lol. Well...if my 3 year old niece saw an orange rolling around the counter-top with petals for eye lashes, a mop for hair and a rubber band for a mouth singing L'amour she will have a canary.lol

  • very nicee :)

  • I AM SCARE !!!

  • Classic Sesame street, love it all. :)

  • I loved this as a child...still one of my favorite memories, thanks!

  • I wish my food could do this! Wouldn't that be cool!?

  • @panda374 i think they do this in chernobal

  • Song: "Habanera" (it's about a thing called Love), from the opera "Carmen", by Georges Bizet (1875).

  • This is so random, and yet I can't stop watching...kind of reminds me of gumby...

  • I can not believe after like 20 years... I still get Sesame Street clips like this one stuck in my head.... Mind Control maybe??

  • @cm79ca I am the same way ----SS now just sucks has no meaning but i love the old days

  • This is absolutely wacked out..I love it. The music reminds me of Fantastic Planet

  • omg. I remember seeing this as kid years ago. Thanks for sharing.

  • Not too many people know this, but this was animated by Jim Henson himself. I was lucky enough to have met him in person at an ASIFA class and he brought along this as part of his animation reel. He also did the animated rocks (that count to 20).... that's probably also on youtube somewhere.

  • lol :P

  • There's something so enduring about this visual piece.

  • LIVE.....from the kitchen counter! The Orange singing Carmen!

  • "My seisure tumor, my seisure tumor....." 1:52 XD okay not really

  • this music is like Artikulation by Ligeti

  • i'm gettin this on my ipod

  • Oh my god!!!

I was over 4 years old and i remember it perfectly!!

    Thanks!!!!!

  • This actually freaked me out as a kid- as an adult, I can't really say why. But yet another Henson creation that shows there was no drug testing in children's entertainment in the 70's! Still, I miss Jim Henson!

  • I'm 41 and I saw this when I was four years old. still as good as it was then cool post man!

  • in the day it was a moog synthesizer.

  • Classic educational TV! I wish I could return to this simpler time in my life.

  • omg

  • classic....this is a childhood memory for me.

  • I'm 39 I watched it when I was a kid, so yeah it's MUCH MUCH Older, remember sesame street came out in 1969. I watch this in the mid 70's as a child

  • Thanks for posting this! I haven't seen this in over 20 years, but I recognized it within the first 5 seconds. Best... children's... show... ever.

  • @mishkin13 - Yeah, I remember this from many years ago, over 30 years go for me.

  • I stll be laughin' at this animation. Especially when the eyes started spinning and the wig would fly up.

  • oh i love it haha love sesame street

  • For some reason, I found this disturbing as a child.

  • @lisvender

Ha ha, me too. Tho I find it disturbing even now. Don't know why.

  • haha thats pretty cool

  • Does anyone know what instruments are being played? They sound synthed certainly. Very curious. Y'know how you hear about long memories associated with scent? I feel the same connection toward sounds. It reminds me of sunny days in my childhood

  • @mercurirgo I could be wrong, but this sounds like only one instrument, an early Moog synthesizer -- mid to late 60s or early 70s. Cf. "Switched On Bach" By Wendy, nee "Walter" Carlos

  • Jim Henson was a true wizard of imagination

  • I remember seeing this in the early 90's when my great aunnt use to watch me.. I know its older than that...

  • Ahh....

  • Watching both Sesame Street and Electric Company as a kid, help me learn to read before I even started school.

  • lol

  • "Trippy" doesn't quite do this little bit of audio/visual beauty justice. My brain tried to process this. It failed. My brain is now goo.

  • For some reason, this singing orange used to terrify me and my sister. :-|

  • @TheDoctor394 Funny! :)

  • Deranged, but utterly epic.

  • lol i like him he has a face

  • I remember seeing this in the '80s, too. I never knew that Henson did it!

  • WTF?

  • This beats Annoying Orange any day!

  • This used to disturb me as a kid..I think it was the crazy eye-lashes and off-key singing in the middle.

  • OMG! I haven't seen that in years! One of my favorites.

  • This was one my first exposure to opera and the arts - much appreciated SS.

I'll be seeing it live in a couple of weeks - am looking forward to it muchly :-)

I loved this and couldn't believe a guy called Bizet saw this segment (no pun to oranges intended) and wrote an opera about it.

......at least thats how i like to believe it happened.
